We are living in the end times generation in which we cannot believe anyone most of the time. The devil is the father of lies, he is working lies more than anything else to cause "feelings" in people.
If he can manipulate feelings in people they become invested more in those feelings than in facts. Often people believe what they choose to believe without facts. If they don't like to face the truth they will believe it is a lie. If they like the lie more than the truth they will invest in it without questioning it.
2 Timothy 3 tells us clearly what the end times generation looks like, it is clear and it is monstrous.
"3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, [a]haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of [b]godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these."
When we know this is what is happening we can guard ourselves against jumping on any bandwagon. We must seek Christ in all things and resist elevating words to the level of truth before there is any evidence.
I am sadly watching so many Christians buying into things they have no evidence for while pretending they do. Or just believing sources that have not demonstrated credibility.
1 John 4:1-2 "1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,…"
Many of the false theories I see being propagated are by non-believers, why would we listen to non-believers who are being manipulated by the devil.
The warning to believers here is to avoid being caught up in things that cannot be adequately proven, the latest scuttlebutt on the internet without credible sources that can be proven to be credible.
We must remember we are not required to know everything going on in the world anyway. We are required to ask God for the truth that is relevant to our lives that will further the gospel and glorify Him.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
If we know the truth from God we will recognize evil when it walks in front of us, there no need to go looking for evil.
I crochet things, it's one of my hobbies that I enjoy very much. If someone were to place a knitting needle in front of me saying it is a crochet hook I would know that was silly and dismiss it.
When we know God's word we will recognize the wrong things easily. Those who do not know their Bible or are pretenders will not recognize wrong when it waltzes in front of them. They will believe whatever they see or hear without any need for prayer for discernment.
1 John 4:1
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world."
How do we test the spirit of someone or something? We ask God to show us, we listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit when He warns us something is not right.
Many people will ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit because they give in to the pressure of their peers to be accepted by them. Perhaps they love drama and this is their fix.
Hebrews 5:14
"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil."
When we ignore our personal desires looking into God's word for truth we will be able to evaluate in truth anything and anyone properly without prejudice toward one side or the other.
Christians are ignoring the signs that something is wrong because they have a desire they are deeply invested in, it fools them, they will be deceived.
Do not be deceived by good sounding arguments or by your own desires, seek the face of God asking to show you pure truth. Then face that truth head-on praising Him for it.
Many lies are flying around now that are not based in fact. These lies are dividing the discerning Christians from the undiscerning. The undiscerning do not want to hear the truth so they bite and devour those who have seen the truth and are dedicated to warning their brothers and sisters to get their eyes off of the world and onto Christ.
Satan loves all this "in-fighting" that ruins the relationships of the brethren. Don't let him do it, fight back in prayer not with our sisters and brothers but against the devil. We must mend the broken relationships that the devil has influenced to divide.
