God is more concerned with WHY we do something than he is with the actual doing of it.
Merely obeying the commands of God does not save anyone nor does it score points with God.
If we have contempt for someone it is called murder. Even if we outwardly give gifts that everyone can see pretending to be a nice person, and the purpose in the gift giving is to impress others or remove our own guilt then the gift is dung in God's eyes.
Matthew 15:7-9 "…7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: 8 ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”…"
If you give a gift in an attempt to disarm or cause false guilt in someone then the gift is manipulation and despicable to God. Our gifts must be given without intent or guile otherwise it is nothing more than self aggrandizement designed to manage the relationship in one's own favor, rather than to build a lasting and mutually loving one.
James 1:17
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
The gifts of God are spiritual and emotional in nature not physical. Those who attempt to bring physical gifts to someone without the spiritual blessing of love and honor are honoring only themselves.
Hosea 6:6
"6 For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice,
And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings."
God hates gifts given to Him that demonstrate a heart that desires to impress others and manipulate Him or the emotions of others.
Have you ever received a gift from an acquaintance who treats you with contempt and disloyalty often but never forgets to wish you a happy birthday? This is disgusting to those who have been the object of this sort of hypocrisy.
There are those in Christian churches who do not recognize exceptions to the Law because they think more in linear terms than vertical terms. Linear being person to person and vertical being man to God.
They snatch a verse out of its context and make a hard fast rule out of it to the point that now the rule does not only not represent God's intent but goes beyond His command.
Galatians 2:21
"21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
As born again believers we should understand the leading of the Holy Spirit. The law says that we are to punish those who steal, however there is mercy when we discover someone stole from us because they were starving and needed that loaf of bread. They were sorry they stole but were motivated by the starvation to seek food for their family. These are those who we show mercy to and to whom we bless with another loaf to further help them.
This principle can be translated to other things as well. When a woman lives with an unsaved husband and he is asking her to do things that violate God's will, she is obligated to go with God against her husband.
The mercy in the case of the woman and her unsaved husband is to come alongside the suffering woman and uphold her decision to go with God. It is monstrous to place a burden on the woman to sin against God to obey her husband.
The same things is true in the worship gathering. The women are commanded not to disrupt the proceedings by chattering and asking questions of her husband, she is to wait and ask him at home.
These days many woman know more than their husbands so they have a basis to share. The command to remain silent does not mean she may not speak things of the Lord as led by the Holy Spirit.
Men are to be the leaders in the formal gathering, but this has nothing to do with woman sharing their faith and instruction with men outside the gathering or to unbelievers. We see the mention of prophetesses in the Bible who are prophesying to everyone.
Luke 2:36, Luke 2:25–27, Luke 2:38, 15:9, Acts 1:14; 2:17, Acts 21:9, Rev. 2:18–29.
1 Corinthians 11 describes a woman who prophesies and prays openly as led by Christ, as long as her head is covered.
One cannot snatch verses out of the Bible and claim absolute obedience to them while ignoring all the other supporting principles of the Bible that expound further.
In other words one must consider the WHOLE counsel of God to come to understanding.
Those who make up their own human rules, intimidating and demeaning others to be able to control them based on age or gender are only interested in controlling people instead of leading by example and teaching.
1 Peter 5:1-5 "5 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over [a]those allotted to your charge, but [b]proving to be examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading [c]crown of glory. 5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Arrogant, dominating and self righteous men do not belong in leadership. We are free to ignore these types to obey God.
1 Corinthians 14:37-38 "…37 If anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, let him acknowledge that what I am writing you is the Lord’s command. 38 But if anyone ignores this, he himself will be ignored. "
Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.”

"38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant (ignored)."

The Scorpion of Revelation May Not Be What You Think
For some time now the Lord has been showing me that alien abductions and an LSD trip have much in common. They are spiritual in nature. Even though the attacks of aliens and the attacks of the drug on the human body seem absolutely real they are manifestations of demons working in the minds of those who have seen their visions.
It occurred to me that these attacks from aliens and the LSD trips have very much in common with the end times events in the book of Revelation.
Why can the attacks on the unbelievers be so severe and yet there is an inability to hide from them as described in the book of Revelation? Why do the people want to die but cannot die in these attacks of ginormous stinging scorpions as prophesied in God’s Word?
The next question for me was why are those who have trusted Christ in the tribulation protected? I think I have the answer to this.
All of the attacks of these terrible creatures are spiritual and being orchestrated by the devil in the minds of people.
In the account of the bent over person as mentioned in Luke, the demons were causing a physical malady that we could see but there was no apparent reason for the infirmity. When the demons were cast out of the person who was affected rose up to walk upright.
Luke 13:10-13 “10 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a SPIRIT; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” 13 And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God. “
The bent over woman was demonized, the demons were cast out and the person rose up. There is an illness that can be caused organically in the physical body, but in the case of this woman who was bent over she had a spirit that was causing this. It is quite possible that the woman bent over didn’t know it was a devil doing this, she just thought she was sick.
Just as the LSD and alien abductions bring terror to their victims they are all in one’s mind. Anyone standing by watching the tormented person cannot see the attacking spiders of the LSD influenced person. The ones who have been abducted have no physical evidence that they had been taken away by aliens.
We are not able to see demons except in rare cases, almost always the devils deeds cannot be seen by man, only the effects of them can be seen.
In the case of the stinging scorpions in Revelation only those who are being attacked by them, who do not have the protection of God know they are present.
One has to think that since there is no way to get away from these terrible stinging scorpions they must have the ability to come through physical objects. In these attacks God says there is no place to hide from them. The reason there is no place to hide is because demons are not limited by locked doors and underground safety vaults.
The attacks of the tribulation are real and devastating but entirely spiritual.
Why can the people under attack not die as they want? It is because the attacks are spiritual and in the mind so dramatically that they can feel and see the attacks as real as if it were physical but because they are spiritual they are not life threatening.
The most treacherous way the devils affect human beings is through their thought life, making them believe things that are not true at all. We see this all the time in families in which one person is targeted as the scapegoat to be tormented spiritually and emotionally by those who wish to believe ugly things about them, but the things they believe have no basis in fact. Devils are placing these thoughts so intensely that those believing them are absolutely convinced that they are truth and will justify their mean spirited actions based on their thoughts.
In the end times scenario of the tribulation we find that many things that occur at that time are spiritual. This is when God has allowed the devil to have the keys to unleash the abyss. This is when the devils will come in force to torment the people upon the earth. But their torment does not extend to God’s people who became born again during that time. God’s people are protected because their minds are protected.
Unbelievers have no defense against spiritual forces, their mind is wide open to anything and everything that the devil chooses to level against them. We see in our day the absolute irrational responses to rational and reasonable things, showing just how spiritually tormented the wicked are, they are literally hell bent on destroying anyone they perceive as a threat to them.
Notice in our day that the devil have convinced many people that sin is good and Christians are bad. This is irrational when we see the devastation of sin in the lives of many around us. Those who are devastated by their sin are seeing the ruin of their lives and thinking they are not ruined.
Demons are convincing people that killing babies is a good thing, they are convincing people that divorce and remarriage is of God when these things are of the devil. They are convincing people that it is mean to correct or admonish anyone as well as the belief that everyone is right and no one is wrong except the Christian. The devils have convinced many people honor is giving gifts without any understanding that honor has more to do with valuing a person than it does with gifts.
The devils are working harder than ever to ruin every relationship they can through the thought lives of many. These defenseless people are inculcated into their brain hate feelings and language that determine their actions. Since they believe they are right they sense that they are justified in their rudeness, their lack of respect and their committed lack of repentance and confession.
Those who cannot admit their sinfulness cannot say openly and honestly “I was wrong”, they can never be people who will humble themselves to become born again. They will never be able to say to God or anyone else they were sinful and that they need to repent. If one cannot speak truth and confession to others they can see, will never be able to do it with God whom they cannot see.
Just a side note here: As a child I grew up watching “Maynard G. Crebbs” a character on a 50’s television show. Maynard was a “beatnick” who could not speak the word “work” without stuttering. He would say this; “w.w.w.w ooooo r” never finishing all the letters because he was deeply lazy. I see the same mentality among many people today who cannot say; “I w.w.w….a…s w…w..w.w. rong” never able to make that word come out of their mouth because of the great deal of pride and resistance to authenticity.
Those who are born again before the tribulation will go up in the rapture, but those who are left behind will experience this monstrous arrogance of self will that will cause them to be tormented by the devils that will be unleashed during the tribulation.
There is no place for the people to get away from the attacking scorpions because these beings are spiritual and in their minds. They cannot run or hide because these spiritual beings can walk right through walls or rocks.

9” They had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle. 10 They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men for five months. 11 They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon (Satan).
The people of God will be protected during the tribulation. Perhaps the people of God will be standing right next to someone who is being attacked by the scorpions and do not see them at all. They will see the torment of the unsaved but will not be able to see the scorpions themselves. Of course this is not state clearly in the bible but there are plenty of inferences that the tribulation is fraught with demonic spiritual activity. The devil cannot touch the born again believer without God’s permission, at this time in the prophetic time line the devil will not be able to touch the born again believer.
Revelation 9:5-7 “…5 The locusts were not given power to kill them, but only to torment them for five months, and their torment was like the stinging of a scorpion. 6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them. 7 And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads, and faces like the faces of men.…”
These mighty and terrifying locusts or as some say scorpions will be so terrifying and painful to experience that death seems like a blessing to anyone tormented by them, but death will not be an option for the five months they are unleashed.
The time is now to decide if you will place your trust in Christ or if you will be one of the ones who will experience the devastating attacks of the demon scorpions. Keep in mind not only will an unbeliever not be able to escape the attacks they will also want to die and not be able to even die to end the suffering.
