Protestant Popes
We do have to remember that people choose those who tickle their ears. All those who will ask God to show them pure truth will not be deceived by these pastors. People often choose to be deceived because they base their choices on what they like rather than what is true. I have tried to expose some false teaching in the church and have been met with hostility nearly every single time. It is one thing to disagree it is another to isolate and demean the one who brings the truth.
Almost all churches today have been drawn into the one-man pastor system modeled by the Catholic church in which there is a hierarchy. God gave leaders to the first-century church to lead by example and teaching, not to make rules God never made imposing them on the church.
"Christians" now look to the pastor for truth rather than to Christ and the pastors often intimidate them into silence when they wish to correct or want a deeper explanation. They have become "protestant popes."
Check with the Holy Spirit to Know Truth
Sadly so many things "Christians believe today come out of the traditions of men, their own desires, and out of the Catholic church.
Yes, I said that! Many of the things "Evangelicals" practice and believe are straight out of Catholicism. And, now those who are "Reform" are returning to Catholicism and don't even know it.
When God says something in His Word we are to believe it, we are to study it and pray for the understanding. Nowhere in Scripture does God say just believe your pastor or the priest, just the opposite. God clearly states that we are to search the scriptures for ourselves and be led by the Holy Spirit.
