Pride Makes Us Trust In Military Might

How many times have we thought things in our country would improve if we could just cast our vote for the right leaders. Often the American people have placed their trust in our military and political strength in the world to protect us and bring prosperity.

Now we are seeing that all the political and military strength available to us can be taken away in heart beat, AND.......we are doing it to ourselves by placing our confidence in something other than Christ.

Isaiah 31:1-3
The Folly of Not Trusting God

"31 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the Lord!
2 Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster,
And will not call back His words,
But will arise against the house of evildoers,
And against the help of those who work iniquity.
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God;
And their horses are flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out His hand,
Both he who helps will fall,
And he who is helped will fall down;
They all will perish together."

Our hope is not in government but in Christ alone. As believers our focus must be the gospel to the unbeliever and instruction for growth to the believer.

Happy Birthday To My Dearest Companion

Happy Birthday To My Dearest Companion

Today is my husband's birthday! He is 65 years of age. I am thankful for God's blessing to me, because of my husband. He has been my encourager when there was no one else. He has taken care of me in times of illness and protected us from many other things in this life.

God has given us many life experiences to grow and enrich our life together. I don't speak of great material wealth, even though God has taken care of our every need, but I speak of spiritual protection and increasing maturity.

I hope that today God will bless him in ways he did not expect!
