Patience is an Outgrowth of Humility

Many of you have already heard the story about the pastor who was given a humble pin because of his great humility, but it had to be taken away because he wore it.

This story reminds me of those who must give themselves titles to feel important or to get people to honor them in a special way.

The men and women of God have no desire for recognition or special honor. They are too busy loving the Lord, His Word and His people to notice whether or not they are loved by anyone but God.

These people, who love the Lord with all their heart, can say the bold and hard things that foster holiness in their lives and the lives of those they love.

They are busy keeping close accounts in their own hearts, while extending a spiritual helping hand to their beloved brothers and sisters.

1 John 3:14 "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."

Hebrews 13:1 "Let brotherly love continue."

1 Corinthians 10:24 "Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor."

1 Corinthians 13:5 "does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,"

May God bless each one with a greater measure of "lack of self awareness", greater love and empathy for others, while recognizing that every brother and sister is growing at a different rate in a different place...patience is good it shows love, not tolerance for sin, but patience in sharing truth. I know I could use more of this myself.

I am quite sure that someone had to be patient with us a time or two, if we take our focus off of how right we think we are and place it on Christ, we will show the kind of patience He had with those He died for on that terrible cross.
