Proverbs 29:8-10

"…8 Scorners set a city aflame, But wise men turn away anger. 9 When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, The foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest. 10 Men of bloodshed hate the blameless, But the upright are concerned for his life."

Christ Must Be the Focus not Clothing

I don't believe in establishing a dress code for worship, however It also becomes about outer appearance when we think it ought to be casual.

Thinking about clothing at all is a wrong focus, let everyone do as they feel comfortable.

Think about it, we would dress up to go to see the President of the United States, why not show this same respect for God's worship.

Going to a fancy restaurant we usually dress up a little, going to a wedding, funeral and others activities of man we make an effort to look nice, seems a little strange that we would dress down to go together to worship.

Just saying!

Keep Going Brothers and Sister it's Almost Over

Evil abounds everywhere. It is a common practice now for evil people to call good people evil, it is a diversionary tactic the devil uses all the time.

They did it to Christ, claiming he was doing miracles by the devil. The devil is very cleaver, if he can get hateful people to be against good people he counts himself as having a victory. However, he will never have a victory over the born again believer no matter how hard he tries.

Just remember they did it to Christ and they will do it to every believer. If you are not being persecuted in some way, then perhaps you do not belong to Christ.

No matter what you do the devil will find someone to falsely accuse you, malign your character and accuse you of things that you are not doing. He is in the business of twisting minds against the believer who loves the Bible and loves God's principles.

Satan tells lies, blinds the minds of people, makes things look good that are bad, convinces others that believers are evil and mean spirited, he does false signs and wonders to deceive, tempts people to sin, batters believer so they will be silenced and fights against God's plans for us.

The biggest tactic of all the devil uses is to bring others against us with lies and accusations, placing believers on the defensive, diverting our attention from obedience to Christ.

But remember this, he will not win if we ignore his ploys and plots and continue on to obey Christ.

Acts 10:38
"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."

2 Timothy 1:9 "who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,"

2 Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Expect attacks in these last day, many things will come against us, if we know it and who is doing it, then we are more prepared to stand strong. May the Holy Spirit strengthen and empower every believer who follows hard after.

Himalayan Salt and the Salt Lick for Cows

An interesting point about Himalayan pink salt. Has anyone else noticed that is looks and tastes exactly like those salt licks the farmers used to put out for cows when we were children.

We used to break off a corner of those licks and carry it around in our pockets to lick throughout the day.

Here's what they looked like:

Come on Just Tell the Truth

If someone cannot say out loud and in front of people that they used to be pond scum before Christ saved them, then perhaps they need to go back and read the words of God that describe us before we were born again.

No one can say they didn't do wrong, no one can say they were great people without flaws, and yet some believers act as though they never needed forgiveness.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 "9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."

All of us were steeped in sin, full of unrighteousness before Christ saved us, NO ONE has any business feeling superior to others, not even one!

Romans 3:9-10 "9 What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin. 10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;"

Haughtiness is sin!

Proverbs 16:18
"Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling."

Isaiah 16:6
"We have heard of the pride of Moab, an excessive pride; Even of his arrogance, pride, and fury; His idle boasts are false."

Jeremiah 48:29
"We have heard of the pride of Moab--he is very proud-- Of his haughtiness, his pride, his arrogance and his self-exaltation."

2 Timothy 3:4
"treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,"

Self righteous people lead many others astray, even teaching by example to demean and dismiss others as though they were objects when they don't cater to their ways. Children especially learn more by example than they do by words.

The self righteous always elevate themselves above God and above His ways, claiming to love God they negate His word more than they obey it. These people seek to elevate themselves above others through mocking and lying against them.

2 Timothy 3:5-7
"5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

The Stony Heart Must Change to Flesh

Empathy in believers is based on authentic friendship. It is demonstrated when one person values another person.

It is not possible for narcissists to engage in empathy since their entire existence is based on whatever elevates self.

Narcissists do not value others, they only show a pretense of value for those that elevate the narcissist.

Proverbs 18:2
"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."

When a friend values someone they are engaged in conversation, two way conversation in which interest is shown in one another's desires, accomplishments and even difficult times. Those that love others care about everything that is happening to them and everything they are doing.

A friend shares their good times and their bad ones. Friends empathize in hard times and joins in the happy ones.

Romans 12:15
"15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."

When there is a display of boredom when sharing something happy or while sharing an accomplishment, it is a sign of jealousy in the one who doesn't really want to hear about the good things in our lives.

When there is a sense of boredom and lack of response in the things we share that are difficulties or sadnesses, then we are witnessing an attitude of superiority or even indifference.

Lack of interest in the things of a friend is a very big clue that we may be dealing with a narcissist, someone who is not happy unless they are the center of attention, in every moment.

Proverbs 29:9
"If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet."

Proverbs 14:7-9
"Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge. The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving. Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance."

Proverbs 14:16
"One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless."

Which do we wish to be, the true friend who loves God first and people second, or the false friend who loves himself above all else.

One cannot love others if they do not first love God!

The narcissist (2 Timothy 3:1-5) cannot love God nor can they love others, therefore their only hope is to repent, confess their sinfulness and become born again. Then God will change their stony heart into a heart of flesh.

Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
38 This is the great and foremost commandment.
39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Admit it You'll Feel Better

If someone cannot say out loud and in front of people that they used to be pond scum before Christ saved them, then perhaps they need to go back and read the words of God that describe us before we were born again.

No one can say they didn't do wrong, no one can say they were great people without flaws, and yet some believers act as though they never needed forgiveness.

Discussion Should Resolve Things

When you find it impossible to discuss anything with someone, it is time to exit the relationship.

Surely there are times when someone doesn't want to talk about something, that is understandable. However when someone makes a practice of doing strange things secretly, and rages when asked to explain their actions, it is time to move on to reasonable persons who care enough about you to resolve things.

Hiding and secrecy is often a symptom of a deeper problem. Open and honest people with nothing to hide readily admit their feelings and desire a solution.

Often those who do not want to resolve something are caught in evil thoughts in their own minds, hiding is a way of protecting anyone from finding out those thoughts. These thoughts are revealed by their very bad unbilbical advice to others.

God calls for believers to be transparent. transparency allows us to face our own fault to be able to grow and learn as well as resolve situations with those around us.

All our lives, some of us have been around family members who treated us with contempt, never telling us why they had such a low opinion of us. I have heard many testimonies just like this, in which the target cannot figure out what they did to deserve this contempt.

There are indications often that people who are jealous or those who cannot tolerate anyone thinking differently from them, just think up something to dislike, even deliberately misinterpreting events in order to believe we are evil. Worst of all they listen to unfounded gossip and make the decision to never ask us our side of the story. These gossip mongers refuse to communicate, refuse to resolve anything because they would have to admit something about themselves.

Those who listen to one side of a matter and believe it, without ever getting the other side are choosing to believe the gossip. As believers we are never to treat anyone with contempt simply because of something we thought we saw or based on what anyone else said about the target.

Proverbs 18:13 "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him."

There has been much family destruction because of gossips and liars. Those who listen to them are choosing to believe what they want, rather than having an interest in truth. Those who listen are partakers in the sin of those who gossip, they are all cut from the same cloth.

It is one thing to relate to a friend something that happened to you personally, it is quite another to interpret events based on one thing you thought you saw without any evidence or having not been an eye witness to the whole matter.

2 Corinthians 13:1 " This is the third time I am coming to you. “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.”

One can always tell those who are gossips and liars, the gossips and liars always get angry when asked to explain why they believe something or when they are chastised for the things they said that had no proof.

2 Corinthians 12:20 "20 For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.'

Exodus 23:1 "1 “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness."

Assuming things based on one or two minutes of observation, is a from of gossiping. It allows ones mind to develop scenarios in the heart that shape and color the way we treat the target.

There are also those who base their opinions of us on their own version of the rules. These people have rules that God never made, even taking scripture out of context to assert these rules, as an excuse to judge and demean others who do not think as they do.

When we have a rule for ourselves that is not clearly expressed in God's word, then we have no right and should not place that rule on anyone else, nor should we judge others who do not obey that man made rule.

It is all well and good to place restrictions on ourselves that might be helpful for us personally, even if they are not in Scripture, however we must never judge or punish others because they don't follow our man made rule.

Galatians 5:1
"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

We are not free to sin, our obedience ought to be to God's principles not the mandates of man that God never intended.

Take Not of the Word "superficially"

Jeremiah 6:14-15 "…14 "They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, 'Peace, peace,' But there is no peace.

Take special notice of the word "superficially", what looks good is not always good.

End Times on Steroids Coming Soon

I find it interesting that in 2 Timothy 3 as you have mentioned here, is written to the church. These are horrid traits of narcissistic people that we would expect in the non-believer, but the believers in the church we would not expect.

Along with everything else going on that is negative and destructive that is going on the 2 Timothy passage jumps off the page, because it is closer to home and very much a part of everyday life even in prosperous countries.

So many families are being destroyed by very mean and selfish people who care nothing about one another. "They will lack natural affection." Adult children no longer care what happens to their aging parents and are teaching their own children by example how to treat them when they are old.

Neglect of people in need, the elderly, those who cannot help themselves and much more is the new normal. Family who used to take care of their own are now depending on the state, being served by paid people who do not have a vested interest in the lives of those they care for. Yes, they may be caring people, but to many it is just a job.

All of the things on the list you made here seem blatant and full blown, showing us the nature of the tribulation only less obvious. In the tribulation these monstrous things will be on steroids.

The Bible clearly teaches that God never pours out His wrath without warning for He is a just and loving God who does not wish that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). That's why He has provided so many signs to alert us to the fact that we are living on the threshold of the Tribulation. "
