Asking Forgiveness To Restore the Offended

An excellent article on repenting and asking forgiveness. Just as repenting for salvation is about a change of mind, so is repenting when we offend someone. Without a change in the heart, there is only superficial insincere apologies.

True Apologies Are Not Superficial and Vague

Many people these days have not learned how to apologize to those they have offended. Pride prevents a true apology while fostering superficial insincere expressions.

We live in a sinful world and we will sin against others from time to time. If we cannot swallow our pride and ask forgiveness then we remain ill ourselves, without possibility of healing and we destroy the relationship. If ignored long enough the relationship will be completely ruined without chance of recovery.

If we cannot verbally name the specific sin in the apology, chances are good we are not sorry, it takes humility and brokenness over our sin to give us the strength to make it right. Honesty is paramount in this interaction. Refusing to apologize or an insincere apology builds distrust in the one to whom we apologize.

Apologizing simply to make a problem go away, is insincere and does not help us to avoid the same sin again. Having to name it helps us to have an aversion to repeating it.

When we are insincere and repeat sins against others in the same vain as we have in the past it builds intense distrust in others toward us.

As believers we should not be comfortable in our sin against another person. The Holy Spirit deeply convicts those who are His, they will not rest until they have humbled themselves and confessed their sin to those they have hurt.

James 5:16 "Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."

Spiritual harm comes to those who have sinned and to those they have sinned against. The longer we stubbornly wait to confess sin, the harder our hearts become, the harder it is to confess it.

Those who walk with the Lord are sensitive to hurting their brothers and sisters. IF there is no conscience over hurting others then it may be a clue we are not born again. The Holy Spirit does not let us rest when we are indwelt by Him.

Attached is a very good way of apologizing, it shows humility and deep concern for the one you offended.

Until They Repent and They Won't

Our nation is doomed, now our focus must be on individuals, one on one, one at a time.

Until individuals become born again we can expect to see these evils increase. I no longer hope for a nation to repent, but I pray for individuals.

The nation as a whole is "Sodom and Gomorrah", no recovery is going to happen. God must judge the shed blood of 56 million babies, this great evil must be avenged.

Until every one of those mothers repents, all the doctors repent, the law makers repent and those who endorsed these things even though they never did it themselves, repent, there can be no blessing left for this nation.

And, I don't believe this is going to happen. When homosexuality becomes an idol to those in control and many of the citizens have accepted it, then there is no turning back, we are on the slippery slide and there is nothing to stop us until we hit the bottom.

Christ Did Not Deny The Other Commandments

There are those who think we do not need to obey the ten commandments, that the two Christ gave are the only ones. What they forget is that Christ is the Law Giver Who lives in us and compels us to love His Law. It no longer condemns us, but shines a light on the sins of those who are not yet born again.

The two greatest commandments are subtitle in an outline of Roman numerals, in a sense. All the other commandments come under those two. God was saying that if we love God we will obey His commandments and if we love our neighbor as ourselves we will follow the other commandments.

1 John 5:2 "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments."

You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make idols.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet.

The first four commandments are about God, and the other six are about our neighbor. This was the meaning God had for the two greatest commandments.

If we love God we will have not other gods except Him, we will make no idols, we will not take His name in vain and we will remember a day to set aside for Him.

If we love our neighbor as ourselves, we will honor our father and mother, we will not commit murder, adultery, theft, lie or covet.

So you see if we keep the two greatest commandments we will be essentially keeping all of them.

Did God Spare Jesus?

There isn't much time left to make the choice to repent and become born again. Make it today before it is too late.

Josh Slatton

"If they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?"
Luke 23:31

Among other interpretations of this suggestive question, the following is full of teaching: "If the innocent substitute for sinners, suffer thus, what will be done when the sinner himself—the dry tree—shall fall into the hands of an angry God?"

When God saw Jesus in the sinner's place, he did not spare him; and when he finds the unregenerate without Christ, he will not spare them. O sinner, Jesus was led away by his enemies: so shall you be dragged away by fiends to the place appointed for you.

Jesus was deserted of God; and if he, who was only imputedly a sinner, was deserted, how much more shall you be? "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" what an awful shriek! But what shall be your cry when you shall say, "O God! O God! why hast thou forsaken me?" and the answer shall come back, "Because ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh."

If God spared not his own Son, how much less will he spare you! What whips of burning wire will be yours when conscience shall smite you with all its terrors. Ye richest, ye merriest, ye most self-righteous sinners—who would stand in your place when God shall say, "Awake, O sword, against the man that rejected me; smite him, and let him feel the smart forever"?

Jesus was spit upon: sinner, what shame will be yours! We cannot sum up in one word all the mass of sorrows which met upon the head of Jesus who died for us; therefore it is impossible for us to tell you what streams, what oceans of grief must roll over your spirit if you die as you now are.

You may die so, you may die now. By the agonies of Christ, by his wounds and by his blood, do not bring upon yourselves the wrath to come! Trust in the Son of God, and you shall never die.

The Date Doesn't Matter

A brother had this on his page, I appreciated it because there are those who think you are not born again because you can't remember the exact date. I don't remember how old I am sometimes, I have to subtract my birth year from the present year to get the answer, but I know I exist.

The important thing is not the date we were born again, but that we were at all.

Josh Slatton

So how important is it to know the exact date of your salvation? Is there any chance you'll come to Jesus at the judgment and he'll say "Depart from me! I never knew you, you who don't know the date of your salvation!"?

Putting God in a Box?

The mantra, "don't put God in a box", is nothing more than meaningless rhetoric to silence those who want to be diligent in making Scripture the measure of all things.

Next time someone says to you, "you are putting God in a box", ask them what they mean by that and require them to show scripture to prove it.

The Atheist Says No To God!

There was a old man who thought that he was going to go to hell and party with all his friends. He bragged about all his illicit conquests as a younger person, laughing about the sin he loved.

While relaying his wicked life to my husband, my husband asked him where he thought he would go when he died, heaven or hell. The response of the old man was that he didn't care, he had friends in both places, it didn't matter.

He said that he preferred hell because that's where all the fun would be. Then the old man asked my husband where he thought the old man would go, my husbands reply was, "hell of course."

My husband had a customer and had to turn away momentarily to serve, when he turned back around to say more, the old man was walking angrily away, hobbling along on his cane as fast as he could go, while shouting profanities.

Hmmm! What made the old man angry at my husband's response? The old man said he didn't care where he went, that he had friends in both heaven and hell, but he preferred hell where he thought the party would be.

What my husband had witnessed was a man who knew that hell was not preferable or he would not have been angry at the suggestion that he was going there. Not only was the man rebellious, he was lying, he knew that hell was a terrible place, didn't want to go there, but in his rebellion he verbally denied what he knew to be true.

There is a part of every human being that knows there is a God that controls everything and they know there is a heaven and a hell.

Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."

I do not believe in such a person as an atheist, God says, "only a fool says in his heart....no God." Psalm 14:1

The atheist is not truly believing there is no God, he is deliberately choosing to say no to Him. Fighting to resist the God He knows exists, he pretends that He has no power over him. After all, isn't this what the devil said when he rebelled, "I will be like God."

Those who claim to be atheists are as little children fighting to have dominance over God and everyone else. It is going to be an eye opener on the day they will bow their knee, whether they want to or not, to a God that will throw them into the lake of fire. Where will their control over their own destiny be then?

Romans 14:11 "For it is written, "AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD."

God offers us an eternity with pure love being cared for deeply by God Who created us, or hell if we resist Him. Why would anyone resist Him, He gave His own life, will give those who love Him an eternity with nothing but the best of everything and do it forever, only a fool would reject this to have their own way in this short period of time on earth, while missing the blessings of eternity.

Are atheists fools? You betcha!!!

Loving Others God's Way

1 John 1:9
"9 IF we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

God will not cleanse us of our sin if we refuse to admit it. He will allow us to keep getting worse until we are at the bottom, ready to admit and confess, desiring to be cleansed by Him.

Most people will not turn from their sin when everyone in their sphere of influence accepts them without challenge. When there is companionship and friendliness no matter what they do, they become solidified in their sinfulness, the longer they are in this state the longer it takes for them to repent. Often they never repent, while their life experience is nearly impossible to get out of, they remain in misery their entire lives, and partly because no one cared to address it openly.

The apostate church is full of these people, they glory in their wickedness, proud that they can get away with it. The church that does not address the sin will be held accountable one day for their negligence toward God and toward the sinner.

1 Timothy 5:22
"Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin."

The longer they remain in their sin, the more people ignore it, refusing to address it, the harder the heart becomes for the disobedient and rebellious individual.

God never forces anyone to obey Him, but He will allow us to wallow in our sin until we get tired of it, with all its pitfalls, perhaps even becoming physically ill as a consequence. The purpose of all this misery is to help the sinner realize their need for Him, so that those in sin will want to know the cure to their sin sick soul. Those who will not point out the sin and administer discipline are helping the sinner to continue down a road that will destroy them, and perhaps eventually cause a hardened heart, this is not love.

Another reason for turning one over to the devil to be buffeted, is so that others in the body will fear the consequences of sin and avoid it. It is helpful to others to see the rejection of the one who will not turn from sin. Peer pressure has been an effective way to help others to think before they indulge in evil. The fear of rejection and the fear of consequences are wonderful deterrents to dangerous habits. God uses rejection to redirect His children, He will not hear our prayers while we remain in sin, He will not help us as long as we refuse to obey Him.

John 9:31
""We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him."

Psalm 66:18
"If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear;"

1 Peter 3:7
"You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so THAT YOUR PRAYERS WILL NOT BE HINDERED."

In the 1 Corinthians passage we see that someone is sinning and Paul rebukes the whole gathering for thinking they are being kind by allowing it without challenge. This is the state of our churches today. They mistake tolerance for sin, as love for the sinner, when in fact it is not kindness at all but selfishness. Those in the body wanted to feel good about themselves, rather than realizing the long term effect of sin on the one who is in disobedience, and the long term effect on the entire body of Christ. We see from the state of our apostate churches today that the more we tolerate, turn a blind eye to and even comfort those in sin, the more sin grows. It has grown to such a degree in the apostate church that more than half the church attendees are in visible sin in one form or another and comfortable.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13
"5 It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife.
2 You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.
3 For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?
7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.
8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;
10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.
11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?
13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves."

1 Timothy 5:20
"Those who continue in sin, rebuke in the presence of all, so that the rest also will be fearful of sinning."

Titus 1:13
"This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,"

2 Corinthians 7:10
"For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death."

2 Corinthians 12:21
"I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, immorality and sensuality which they have practiced."

There are many in the church now who are living in sin, doing it in pride completely comfortable with it and influencing others to be comfortable with it, thereby causing a firestorm of sin enveloping the church.

Those who will not point out sin have no backbone, they fear man rather than God. Their allegiance is to man rather than God, because of this there no longer remains love in the church. Whatever anyone wants to do is fine with these people because they do not love.

Acts 5:29 "But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men."

Proverbs 29:25
"The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted."

Both Greatest Commandments are being violate in these gatherings!

Matthew 22:36-40
"36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
38 This is the great and foremost commandment.
39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

When self is on the throne, it is not possible to help anyone in a godly way, when self is on the throne, it is impossible to love the way God told us to love.

Think about it!
