The old fashioned mentality is for children to seek to please their parents.
We are living in a time when there is no respect for parents, the young people are angry when we do not seek to please them.
Leviticus 20:9
"For anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood is upon him."
Notice how serious disrespect for parents is?
