Better to Judge than to be Deceived

The same people who say "don't judge" often judge that something is right and good. If we are not to judge at all then we shouldn't judge something as good or right either. This kind of thinking is illogical if not insanity.

God told us to expose evil, we can only do that if we use the principles of God to discern good from bad and right from wrong.

Everyone makes judgments every day. The very people who say don't judge, judge those who do have analytical thinking, as judging.

If we don't judge, we lack discernment and are vulnerable to every scam that comes to us. Do we receive a half eaten candy bar from a stranger on the street? NO, because we are judging that something could be wrong with it, that the person might have a disease that we don't know about. The act of offering a half eaten candy bar is strange, so our judgment tells us there might be danger, we refuse the offer to protect ourselves.

One cannot go through life without making judgments, often life saving ones. It is only a fool who believes everything they hear and see without analyzing it to make sure of the information that comes to them.

A detective would be a fool if he merely looked superficially at a matter and didn't dig deeper. He would be wrong more times than right if he did not investigate and make judgments.

God told us in 2 Timothy 3:5 to "get away from such people." What people? People who act in certain ways as described in the previous verses. A judgment has to be made whether or not someone is acting in these ways to know heed the warning.

2 Timothy 3:1-5
"3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of [b]godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these."

John 7:24 "24 Stop judging by outward appearances, and start judging justly.”"

Malachi 3:18: "Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not."

When the culture as a whole is raised in the "don't judge" mentality, they are much more likely predisposed to accepting sin. The best way to make someone feel guilty about rejecting sin in ourselves and others is to shout "don't judge" every time someone attempts to tell the truth.

It is common for disobedient and rebellious hearts to point an accusing finger at the truth teller, to intimidate them into silence. Unruly people feel better when they are not faced with having to answer for their sin.

They do not shout "don't judge" to protect the one we are assessing, they are shouting "don't judge" because they don't want to be accountable to anyone themselves.

Our culture as a whole is hyper-sensitive to any form of correction or evaluation. They are weak in their souls because they are full of unrepentant sin.

Everyone needs correction from time to time, we are imperfect and have blind spots. Those who love the Lord with all their heart, do not rage when told they might be wrong, but rather they will go to prayer to see if it is true, readily admitting their error if God confirms it.

James 4:10
"Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you."

Micah 6:8
"He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?"

Colossians 3:12
"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;"

Proverbs 16:19
"It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly Than to divide the spoil with the proud."

Romans 12:3
"For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith."
