The way one acts reveals the heart.
"More is caught than taught." How you act carries more weight than what you say.
Growth and Steadfastness
When we find ourselves in a discussion with someone who seems to lack discernment and fights against the principles of God, we are observing someone who may not be born again.
Matthew 15:7-9 "…7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: 8‘ These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’ "
1 Corinthians 2: 13-15 "And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
14 The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment."
Romans 8:7-9 "because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ."
John 14:17 "the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you."
1 John 4:6 "We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception."
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Ephesians 4:18 "They are darkened in their understanding and alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts."
John 8:47 "Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
1 John 2:20-21 "You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth."
John 3:19-20 "And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed."
Many Christians are walking according to the flesh, knowing the truth but using it to elevate self without regard to their own Spiritual growth to be more fully in obedience to Christ.
When we love Christ above all other things and people, we will interpret all that we encounter through the eyes of Jesus Christ and not through our own fleshly understanding. May we desire conviction of the Holy Spirit so that we are pleasing to Him.
