He is Called "I AM"

He is Called “I AM”

On another thread we were discussing the Catholic church. All too often I meet with Protestants who think that Catholics can be born again.

Remember when you hear a Catholic say, "they are saved by grace", they do not mean the same thing that we do. They believe that the more good deeds they do, the more grace they heap up for themselves and might be saved if they do enough good.

The Catholics I knew when we left the church were told NOT to read the Bible. They were told that only the priests could understand it.

I was met with anger and rejection when I began to read my Bible while in the church. I was told that I was arrogant for thinking I could know truth. I had become born again, I did not leave the church until my husband became born again ten years later.

I endured much persecution on the part of his family and all our friends, and even my husband until he became saved. I praise the Lord He gave me the strength to endure.

The more I read the Word and prayed for wisdom, the more of the wickedness of the church was exposed. It made my husband angry about what I was showing him, eventually he saw, became born again and now feels as though he had been lied to and despises the Catholic system.

There are others just like us, whom God pulled out of the church. We know better the truth of it, because we lived it. Sadly, Protestants will sometimes argue with us, thinking Catholics can be saved. WE know that if a Catholic becomes born again they must leave that system.

Christ is sacrificed every week, while the people indulge in a form of cannibalism, believing in "transubstantiation", the belief that the bread and wine turn into the actual body and blood of Christ.

They base this belief on the statement Christ made when He said; "this is my body", while He sat there with the apostles, not yet crucified. Christ's statement was an illustration to make a point, it was not actually His body and blood.

Christ also said he was the door...we know he was never a door..He meant He is the only way to the Father.

Christ said He called Himself many things to illustrate His function and character.

John 15:5 - "I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

John 14:6 - "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 6:55-59
"55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum"

John 10:9 "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

John 10:11 " I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

We are not literal sheep and Christ is not literally our a shepherd. We are likened to these things as illustrations of the relationship.

John 6:35
“I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger.”

John 8:12
“I am the light of the world; he who fallows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 11:25
"“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.”

John 8:58.
"Jesus said, “Truly, Truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am”, which means that Jesus existed before His human life on earth.
