Cancel all unnecessary services such as cable tv, internet, anything that is not absolutely necessary should be removed from your life.
So many things the young people think are important were not even invented yet when we were young. If one cannot pay their rent, but have cable tv or indulge in video games, eating out or movies at the theater, their priorities are a mess.
The wise thing to do is to budget for the rent, the food, gas for the car etc. and drop every other thing that is not a necessity to survive. This is a hard lesson for the younger people who have been raised to think they must have all their fun first while neglecting the things that pertain to "real life."
Also, remember when you default on your rent, you are stealing from the property owner. When you moved, a promise was made to pay each month, when someone lets that falter to spend that money on play things, they are stealing from the landlord.
As believers we are to be diligent about our Christian witness, that is we pay what we promised to pay and we move out if we cannot pay. Far too many renters are defaulting on their rent, stealing several months of rent from the land owner while remaining in his property.
The land owner is using the property to make his living, you have no right to steal that from him by refusing to make the monthly payment a priority.
When you rent a place to live you are accepting what was in the agreement. To default, is not only stealing money, space, time and peace from the landlord, but you take a piece of his life that does not belong to you. Then you are also lying, you said you would pay each month but decided not to is to go back on your word, making your words into a lie.
Romans 13:7-8 " 7 Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. 8 Be indebted to no one, except to one another in love, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.…"
I am appalled at the stories I hear of tenants refusing to leave when they can't pay rent, even winning in court against a landlord who was forced to allow thieves to remain in his place, while he lost money on his own property.
Landlords are not "non-entities" who can be used and abused. They are human beings working hard to provide a place for people to live. They have many expenses to keep up what their tenants break. Often they must completely redo what tenants ruin after they leave. I have been hearing of cases when a tenant who has stolen several months from the landlord, become angry when they are evicted, trashing everything in a vengeful spirit to further harm the landlord.
Shame on anyone who does this, shame, shame!!!!!
As we are moving further into the end times we can see more of these hateful and selfish mentalities emerging, the idea that everyone owes them!
Colossians 3:23
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,"
Proverbs 13:4
"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied."
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12
"For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living."
If you are having financial difficulties, take any job available, even if it is cleaning toilets at the local Walmart. Every job is meaningful when we do it to please the Lord, when we are diligent we will be a good witness to those around us.
Young people, to you I say this, stop thinking you should have the job at the top of the rung when you were not willing to do the icky stuff at the bottom first. Anyone who will not do the distasteful jobs, will not be any better at the top. One must prove themselves worthy of the top by starting at the bottom, willing and happy to prove themselves. Clean that toilet with pride, do the best in all you do and then perhaps God will bless, over time, with a job a little better later.
And, stop thinking you can run home to "Mommy" every time you mess up by wasting your money on foolishness. If you obey God, budget well and not waste, then you will have all you need, God will bless your efforts. There is a natural built in blessing that comes with obeying God's principles.
Seek the Word of God to learn what His principles are and then actually obey them.
