Devils are influencing people everywhere all the time. They are causing people to be angry with one another over little things as well as things in which there is no reason to be angry. We are living in irrational times of great deception.
1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
The most effective way the devil has of turning one person against another is to work on the "feelings", the very reason we must ignore the feelings to discern the truth.
Proverbs 6:19 "a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."
Satan is busy causing hurt and angry feelings through his lies. He lies against us, against God and causes people to lie against one another.
Proverbs 6:16-19
"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."
Romans 16:17-18
"I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive."
Those who are divisive are being led by the devil just as Peter was influenced by Him when Christ looked right at Peter and said; "get thee behind me Satan." Christ did not address Peter, He addressed the one who was influencing him.
Matthew 16:22-24 "…22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!” 23 But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” 24 Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me."
When someone irrationally attacks you verbally or emotionally for speaking the truth you can be sure it is the devil behind it. Peter was a man of God who loved Christ and yet for the moment, he was influenced by the devil just as many Christians in our day are being influenced.
We must seek God every day that we do not speak anything that is not the truth from the Holy Spirit that matches with His Word the Bible. Far too many false doctrines are coming out of the church today, doctrines that are deceiving people against the truth.
We cannot change what is happening all around us but we can stand strong while leaving the results to God. Perhaps someone is listening that we do not know about. But most of all if we never are able to get anyone to listen we will remain faithful ourselves.
You will find out who loves God and who does not by their response to the truth.
John 14:15-16 "15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever—…"
Its' really just that simple but it takes strong resolve not to be influenced by the culture around us and the whispers of the devil.
