Tactics of Jealous People

Proverbs 14:30; "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones."
Mark 7:21-22; “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness."
Job 5:2; "Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple."
Proverbs 23:17-18; "Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off."
James 3:14-16; "But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t brag and deny the truth. Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil."
Watch out for jealous people: Here are some signs of a jealous person:
1. Talking behind your back even telling others you need prayer because there is something bad about you. They wish to appear spiritual to the hearer but in fact, are gossiping.
2. Attempt to ruin any accomplishments by denying them as insignificant or claiming you didn’t really do what you accomplished.
3. They will attempt to steal your blessing by doing the same thing better than you, the sin of competitiveness.
4. They will judge you about things they know nothing about based on the guesses they wish to believe about you.
5. They are passive-aggressive, showing up late when you were expecting them, insulting you and claiming it was a joke, ignoring your blessings, ignoring you at gatherings, dismissiveness when you speak, even inviting you to the gathering so you could see them ignoring you.
6. Fake compliments using flattery to disarm us from seeing their tactics.
7. They will poke at you in subtle ways hoping you will become angry so they can point to you as the angry person even though they were the angry ones.
8. Attempts to humiliate you in public, telling stories about past failures or joking about your clothes or hair to mock you in front of others.
9. They spoil plans and events if they have any control over them at all. They will attempt to ruin your events by arriving mad, sullen with mannerless responses to the things that are going on.
10. They will work at discouraging y
There are many more tactics that the devil uses to bring down the target of the narcissist. Jealousy has led to slavery as we see in the lives of Joseph when his brothers threw him down a well and sold him into slavery. Jealousy led to murder when Cain killed Able and when David’s own son Absolum wanted to kill him. Read the Bible there is where we see what jealousy does and how destructive it can be.
In our day jealousy destroys marriages, families, children and everything else.
God tells us to avoid jealous people. 2 Timothy 3 shows us the mentality of the jealous person and that we should avoid these people. We may even love them, but loving them from afar through prayer is better than continually watching them ruin lives and relationships by remaining with them.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 “
3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times (ragingly insane) shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
Remaining friends with jealous people does not help them change. It only further solidifies their sinful attitude by enabling them to remain wicked while putting up with their antics. God can do a better job with them than we ever could, let them go and leave it with God. In verse 5 of second Timothy 3 God commands us to stay away from the wicked man.
Also keep this in mind: |
Isaiah 26:10 "10 Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD. "
Do not for one minute think that being friendly with a jealous person will change them. God has to work to change in them without us.
When we walk away from jealous people our life becomes peaceful, full of joy and moving forward in what God has for us to do.
Remember that jealous people have one goal as directed by the devil, which is to prevent us from growing Spiritually and keep us from the mission God has given us. Do not allow them in your life!
