Just recently I spoke to a man in a parking lot who was all excited about the rapture. He declared that he was going in the rapture and that it would be soon.
As I questioned him about salvation he declared that he knew all religions are valid and all those with faith, no matter what kind of faith were going in the rapture.
I was astounded that he even knew about a rapture realizing that he was never born again. That led to the question for me; "how many people know about the rapture and believe they are going in it but were not born again?"
I was also struck with the thought that the knowledge of the rapture is all over the internet informing the entire world of what is coming and their need for salvation. Are there people who know about the rapture but are not repenting to become born-again?
I now realize that not everyone who believes in the rapture is born-again. Perhaps many think they are going in the rapture but will be left behind.
My challenge to everyone who believes they are going in the rapture is to seek God to see if they are saved at all.
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’"
I call this passage in Matthew the most frightening passage in the Bible because it reveals that many people, perhaps most who say they are Christians will expect to get into heaven when they die only to be told they are on their way to hell. What an incredible fear and disappointment these people will have realized their good deeds and happy thoughts never got them there. They never confessed their sinfulness and never trusted in Christ. This is where their willfulness has led them to hell.
