God says to believers who are born again:
James 5:16 "16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail."
God said to confess to be healed of that sin, He does not say to be saved again.
Anyone who has tasted the good fruit and walks away, was not someone who was born again. They were like Judas who was with Christ and even acted like an apostle, he tasted of the fruit, saw what he needed to do but never did it. He was never born again.
Sadly our churches are full of those who have plunked themselves in a pew every week, year after year, but never trusted Christ. They went through the singing, the motions, the prayers and the events, but their hearts were never changed into a new creation, they wanted "religion" in their lives to make them feel safe and to be around good people, but they had contempt in their hearts toward God.
Matthew 15:7-8 "…7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: 8‘ These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”…"
There are those who are confused, thinking that someone can lose the salvation they didn't earn. They are confused because they have seen people walk away after having all the right words and even the right lifestyle, and then one day they slipped back into evil, loving it, raging at those who confront them and even exacting revenge at the ones who tried to bring them back into obedience.
These people were never born again, they played the role, said the words and had the appearance, but never trusted Christ.
God never lies, His Word is clear that attempting to perfect ourselves to keep from losing our salvation is pride and futile. We must let Christ work in us, it's His work that we depend on, not our own.
Someone who is truly born again understands that all the changes in their behavior and attitudes were not because they worked so hard at it, but because they lost the desire as the Lord pruned them and shaped them into His image. HIS WORK.
If you are still trying to be perfect to "appear" that way to others, then you are still walking fleshly and must stop trying to be good in your flesh and submit to Christ. Ask Him to do the changing in you, stop patting yourself on the back for how good you think you are, and, stop judging believers who don't do what you do.
Christ IS working in His children all the time, He never stops. If we have faith we know this, we have seen the change in ourselves over the years and we have seen the change in many who don't appear to be trying, their sins are dropping off because they have lost the desire to do them, they have become distasteful to them.
No one gets to get the glory for changing their own life, it is all Christ, He gets all the glory. Hallelujah!!!
