A Better Place, Where is That?

The idea that everyone who dies goes to "a better place", is deeply entrenched in this culture, even among those who say they are Christian.

When asked why someone believes that, they cannot give an answer, even acting irritated that you would ask a question they could not answer or challenge something they want to believe, after all their "feelings are their facts."

This generation is convinced that whatever they want to feel is the truth, facts and rational evaluation is not practiced much of the time.

The devil had to convince the culture that they were gods and whatever they wanted to believe was not only acceptable but without challenge.

Our culture believes that everything is right and nothing is right. This makes no sense to the rational deductive person. The only way everything can be right at the same time nothing is right, sort of goes like this;

There is no right or wrong answer, if you believe it in your own reality, then it is true, and no one should say it is wrong. However if someone thinks you are wrong, they must keep it to themselves because its alright to believe others are wrong as long as you don't say so. In other words no one is sure or confident about anything. Its all about feelings rather that truth.

It is irrational and yet we live in a culture that operates this way, making it harder to reach them with the gospel. If there are no absolute truths, they they will not believe our truth about the gospel if its not what they want.

In our culture, go ahead and believe what you want but if it differs from the truth of others then you are allowed to have your belief as long as you remain unsure about it.

So really, our culture believes everything and nothing at the same time. Yes, it is irrational.

I know this is hard for some people to accept, but in every discussion someone is right and someone is wrong, sometimes someone is partially right while someone is partially wrong.

That's why there is need for discussion, analytical thinking and a willingness to let go of something when we find it to be wrong.

Proverbs 1:6-10 "…6 To understand a proverb and a figure, The words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching;…

Proverbs 23:9 "9 Do not speak in the [h]hearing of a fool,
For he will despise the wisdom of your words."

Proverbs 12:1-2 "1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid. 2 A good man will obtain favor from the LORD, But He will condemn a man who devises evil.…"

God has a right answer and solution for every matter in His Word. You will not always find a specific verse for a specific situation but you will find principles to cover everything. If you cannot find a principle to fit your situation, then you must go to prayer and ask God to show you your course of action.

James 1:4-6 "…4 Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.…"
