Stories Teach and Influence

Our country is blatantly becoming what it has been working toward for 160 years, ever since evolution began to be taught in public schools and the parents didn't remove the children then. Evolution began being taught in the schools in 1861.

I was taught evolution in school and I am 68 years old, this tells you how long our country has been moving toward godlessness.

From then on everything else that was wicked was subtly introduced and the parents did not fight it. We did not just all of a sudden go bad in the last few years, we have been moving toward godlessness since that time when evolution began to be taught. Our nation has always been godless for the most part with slavery, prohibition when people hid in speak-easies to have their booze as well as the roaring twenties when jazz was introduced. Many more people attended churches but the majority of the people were ungodly.

For those who think our childhood was so wholesome, it was not, it was only our perception. I once had this perception until God opened my eyes to family life back in that day.

The television shows began to introduce into the culture psychology in those "wholesome shows" such as "Ozzie and Harriet." Yes, the father worked outside the home and the mother remained in the home but notice the psychology and the rock music that was being shown as good and normal.

The first television was sold in 1946 after world war two. This is when the war was over, the people needed a sense of community when their soldiers returned, the culture was ripe for entertainment after a decade of fear and war. This is when the devil introduced things to the public through the television in nearly every home.

Our country has been progressing toward godlessness ever since the onset of the television and movies.

That so-called wholesome show "Ozzie and Harriet" appeared to be sweet and happy but introduced psychology and rock music to the public.

I recall "Gunsmoke" a show in the '50s in which the sheriff of a town was the hero and his girlfriend was a madam in the saloon. Our family watched this show every Saturday night. Sunday we attended church.

Every show that I could name that is seen as innocent back in the '40s and '50s has subtle elements of godlessness. It was so subtle that the families ignored it, just as they ignore the filth today. Most people tend to ignore language and ideas they don't wish to see, as if they ignore it, it must be that it didn't happen. Everyone was heavily influenced by these shows without realizing it.

Sadly most Christians could not watch these shows without it shaping their lives in some way. A steady diet of ungodly thinking leads to dilution and delusion of our morals. Today I hear Christians using words that God told us not to express, by this I know what kind of shows they are watching.

Psalm 101:3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me."

1 Corinthians 15:33 "33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 34 Sober up as you ought, and stop sinning; for some of you are ignorant of God. I say this to your shame.…"

If you cannot watch a show on television without becoming like those actors on that screen then you have an idol and will be corrupted. If you ignore the filthy language and keep watching that is an endorsement of that language. Even worse, if you watch these shows, continue watching even begin using that language then you are being influenced by the devil to diminish your Christian witness.

And, now the television is promoting evil ideas, rebellion and lies through the newscasts. There is very little that we can believe that comes from the news. Everything is skewed to present what they want us to believe, sadly it is working for many people.

Since most people do not think very deeply and are enamored with gossip and famous people, we can see how it is deeply changing our world. If a famous person speaks, the general public believes it must be true because he/she is famous.

This same thinking is in the Christian church too, if someone is a famous preacher they must be speaking the truth in the eyes of many.

1 Thessalonians 5:21
"21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;"

Very few people, even very few Christians bother to examine everything, they simply accept whatever is popular. This keeps them in a state of childlike trust in wrong thinking.

If you want to grow in holiness then you will evaluate every single thing you see on television, movies or the news, soon you will lose interest in most of it because the light of God's word will shine on it revealing the truth.

By the way; stories teach and influence!!!!
