If we are not confessing sin, we will not be cleansed, if we are not cleansed because we stubbornly will not confess, then God will bring discipline to those who have a staunchness against discipline.
1 John 1:9
"9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Psalm 11:5
"The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence."
Hebrews 12:8
"If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons."
Those who have become born again by the Holy Spirit hate the sin that we do. After salvation sins begin to fall off because we want to be cleansed. God said this to believers:
1 John 1:9
"9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We will be continually challenged and cleansed for the rest of our lives as long as we are trapped in this body of death.
Romans 7:14-15 "…14 We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. 16 And if I do what I do not desire, I admit that the Law is good.…"
When we seek the Holy Spirit, He will answer, revealing everything in us that needs correction, then He will bring about circumstances that redirect our thinking. We cannot be or do what is right until our thinking is adjusted.
It is our thinking that directs everything else. If we think right then our actions will come out right. If we think in twisted ways, we will only be able to pretend for a short time until the real us emerges during the difficult times.
If someone is constantly picking on us, then we know that person has contempt for us. If someone is treating us with kindness and respect, we know that person loves us. The proof of the mentality is seen in the sustained and permanent ways in which we operate.
Those who are fake cannot sustain goodness, but the truly good person will be continually kind and loving without deviation, except in rare instances where they are under stress, but then quickly they feel badly and confess. The Lord hates wickedness, He lives in us and we will take on the ways of the Holy Spirit Who lives in us.
Psalm 11:5
"The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence."
John 3:36
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."
Hebrews 12:5-7 "…5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, or lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises everyone He receives as a son.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?…"
Hebrews 12:8
"If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons."
