Remember when Christ looked right at Peter and said: "get the behind me Satan?" He was recognizing that the devil was influencing Peter. The point is that most people today, even in the churches, are speaking from the mind of the devil and thinking it is their own thoughts.
Do not take it personally when someone you love rages at you or maligns you, it isn't them, its the devil using their mouths in an attempt to diminish our walk.
The devil uses thoughts and feelings to manipulate many people in our culture. He even tries to turn people against the born again believer, using those the closest to them to intimidate, mock and reject them.
If the devil can keep us in an emotionally one down position he can discourage us, even cause us to sin, but it is still our choice to let him. We have the power within us, that is Christ Jesus to fight against this monstrous being, the devil.
1. "Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7
2. "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." 1 John 4:4
3. "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Cor. 10:3-5
4. "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith." 1 Pet. 5:8-9
Remember these scriptures when the devil begins his attack, he has no power over us unless we allow it.
