Just like the constitution of our country, many people say they believe in the Bible but very few actually follow God's teachings in it.
We live in a time when people think words are facts, feelings are facts and whatever we hear in the ear are facts no matter how little evidence we may have to prove any of it.
We live in a time of great deception and many lies. It takes the discernment of God to detect this trickery.
Proverbs 14:5
"5 An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies."
Proverbs 19:9
"9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish."
There are many ways to lie by; insecurity, craftiness and disinformation. May the people of God refuse to believe anything that is not Biblical and which has no real evidence behind it.
Many Christians are believing statements by other Christians or Christian news that have not been proven and that they cannot vet. We ought not to repeat anything we have not been able to prove ourselves. Just because a Christian makes a statement about what they think is going on does not qualify as evidence.
We are better off resisting the pull of the conservative media while keeping our eyes in the Bible for our wisdom and learning.
Every time we repeat something we cannot prove we have told a lie. It is good to only speak about things we have personally experienced and not what others have told us.
Recently I have noticed a lot of people reading articles by people they don't know and have never met and calling it research. This is not research it is likely that it is more indoctrination than fact.
Zechariah 8:16
"These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates."
Psalm 15:2
"He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart."
Reading the Bible far more than we listen to the media, if we listen to the media at all, is the best thing to do. The world is full of lies and deception, but the Bible is completely true, we need the help of the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts as we read, then we will know truth from error.
