Let God be True and Every Man a Liar
When we discover that someone has contempt for us and will not hear the Word of God, that is the time to walk away. If they must be in your life it is best to be full of joy in the Lord and ignore their attacks.
Christ did not respond when He was accused, however, other times He chastised. There is a time to remain silent and a time to speak. Whichever it is, there must be a calm that surpasses human effort. When the Holy Spirit speaks there is no need to look back and wonder if we did the right thing, because we know it was Him and not us.
The Holy Spirit will calm us even before it is needed because our calm comes from confidence in Him, without a need to prove ourselves or convince others.
1 Peter 2:16
"16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God."
1 Peter 2:20
"20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God."
As born-again believers, we are free from the manipulation of those who wish to harm us. No matter what they do to us we are not unhinged or frazzled.
It is the goal of the devil and those he controls to cause us to become worried and angry. Christ in us is more powerful than they and will keep us peaceful no matter what if we submit to Him.
If we do not seek the approval of men we will truly be free!!!!
Galatians 1:9-11 "…9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse! 10 Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11 For I certify to you, brothers, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man.…"
"Let God be true and every man a liar."
Idolatry Comes in Many Forms
Those who use the word "reverend" or "priest for a person in a church gathering are thinking of that person as the mediator between them and God. This is idolatry.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
"For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time."
Don't be an idolatrizer, someone who idolizes people. We love people, and we care deeply about our brothers and sisters in Christ, this is love, not idolatry.
No one deserves our allegiance except God. The Holy Spirit is everything to us all the time. People can be helpful as they are led by the Holy Spirit but their opinion without the Holy Spirit is just their human thoughts. We are free to dismiss what doesn't come from the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23
"22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
Isaiah 11:1-3
"There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord."
We Must Hear From the Holy Spirit First and Always
Often we see things look good to our eyes based on our desires but that are against God's Word and will. When we depend on the Holy Spirit instead of our senses, desires, or the pressure of the culture around us, we are free to do what God wants....we are free indeed. Just because something looks right and good or the culture demands it does not mean it is God's Will.
This is a common response of those who want to be Lord of their own lives. They do not believe God's Word, they trust only in themselves, and they don't even believe wiser people who walk with God. If Eve would not believe God then why would she listen to anyone else. She listened to the devil instead of God. This is what we are seeing regularly now, church attendees listening to those who are influenced by the culture and the devil listening only to them while refusing God's Word from those who seek the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit for truth.
When we see someone doing a good deed it is best to not make a judgment about it because we don't know if God directed it or if a person just likes to feel good about themselves.
Those who are doing good things as directed by the Holy Spirit do not need praise for their actions. They are satisfied with obeying God. We must be encouraging to one another but this does not mean flattery or praise. Thankfulness to one another goes a long way and ultimately ends up glorifying God not ourselves.
When we are complete in Christ we can stand alone if we have to. We love the agreement of others who are complete in Christ, they are our family, but if we don't have them nearby we are content to be alone with Christ.
John 12:26
"Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
Psalm 37:5-6
"Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun."
I am thankful for the brothers and sisters here on Facebook, they bless me as we agree on important things. Our love for Christ is what binds us with one another. Hallelujah!
