Cleansing Every Day

I am thankful that Christ in me is cleansing me all the time, there are fewer sins today than there were in the past and even fewer as He does His work in me throughout the rest of my life.

Ephesians 2:10 "10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."

James 5:16 "16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail."

1 John 1:8-10 "…8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.…"

Looking at Man or Looking at Christ

Anyone who needs the emotions of others around them, the sounds and words of others to maintain a fervor for Christ, then there is no real fervor, only imitation Christianity.

One who is born again and deeply loves the Lord, he/she yearns for the things of God, they need not be carried by anyone or any emotion to continue.

There are so many "Christians" who display no sense of devotion to Christ unless they are in the "right environment" or with the "right people." These people are never motivated to pray unless someone else suggests it, they are not motivated to read the Bible unless others invite them to do so. Most everything they do is based on appearances rather than substance.

When alone they are not concerned about the principles of Christ. When alone these people have little interest in seeking the mind of Christ or growing in holiness. The evidence of our life are in the day to day activities, the aging process and whether there has been any change over many years.

These people have no spiritual or meaningful advice to give to anyone else, their only motivation is being accepted by those around them.

When someone is filled with God's wisdom they cannot help but share it with others, it flows out like a waterfall and is never emptied.

As a believer who loves the Lord, it is impossible to fill to capacity and stop, there has to be a flowing over, stopping only results in regression and is most often a clue that there has only been pretending all along the way.

Pretending is hard work wearying, so much so it cannot be continued. Stopping results in regression, sort of like a rubber band that is being stretched and released, only to return to it's smaller useless state.

Proverbs 18:4-5 "4 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters; The fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. 5 To show partiality to the wicked is not good, Nor to thrust aside the righteous in judgment.…"

Want to be a Rubber Band?

Are you like a rubber band, being stretched by the fingers of others to keep up your appearances of Christianity. When the fingers of others release you, you are returned to your state of uselessness and smallness.

If we are like the rubber band, that can only be stretched by the affirmation and usefulness of others, as though their Christianity is ours simply by our association with them, then we have none of our own.

Born again believers in Jesus Christ ought to be able to stand alone, while the Holy Spirit in us stretches us to His standards, principles and desires.

John 3:6-8 "6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”"
