I walked into a Starbucks shop a few months ago. I ordered my drink and moved toward a chair that was available, all the other chairs were taken, and in the other chairs were some men, seemingly associated with one another, I didn't think anything of it and sat in the chair to drink my coffee.
After a couple of minutes in the chair, a young man in his thirties asked me to get out of the chair because he had planned on sitting there near his friends.
Keep in mind that I am a gray-haired 60 year old woman and there were no other chairs available in the shop.
I was astounded, and said, "Oh, alright." I got up and had to leave because there was no place to sit. The man who had asked me to get out of his chair, sat down while I walked out the door to my car.
Is it any wonder why I have such a low opinion of the town I live in. This sort of disrespect happens frequently here.
When I was a young woman, men were still giving up their chairs for the sake of a woman no matter what her age, but especially an older woman.
Not one of those men in that shop gave up their chair for me, nor did they even look to see if they could find one.
I experience this kind of disrespect constantly on the part of those who were raised in this area of the country.
When I was living in South Carolina and Kentucky, a woman was treated with a great deal of respect, never would a man have sat down while a woman was standing. The men even rose from their chairs when a woman entered the room, out of respect.
Thank you women's libbers, you have destroyed all vestige of honor toward women. The men in this are have never been taught basic respect and honor to anyone,let alone for the gentile gender.
I don't know what it feels like anymore to be treated with respect or honor. I have little desire to be around young people anymore. I ask God to help me be individually discerning, so that I do not return evil for evil.
One thing for sure, I desire to be released from this area of the country, please, someone tell me there are other places not so hateful and mean.
