This is the way the world reacts when we tell them that divorce and remarriage is a sin and on going adultery according to Jesus Christ.
They do not behead us for exposing sin in our country, but they act as though they wish they could sometimes.
When we devalue the weight of the word of God, we are devaluing God Himself.
There are so many in ministry today who are living in adulterous marriages. Hal Lindsey for instance is on his fourth wife after divorcing the first three. Why has he not been ashamed of all of this? My guess is that most likely because the culture as a whole does not see this as a problem, he can continue to live this way with mountains of support from the Bible minimalists.
Do not be surprised when we see those who come against this post for "judging" a man who has been in ministry many years.
The point to this post is to warn people not to place our trust in any man and to be willing to expose those who claim to be messengers of God but live a life contrary to His Word.
Lindsey predicted that the pre-tribulational rapture would take place in 1981 and it did not happen. Now he has been saying that Christ should be returning before 2018. When we see a man predicting things that do not come true as well as other sin in their life, such as divorce and remarriage, we might have trouble trusting Him in other things.
It is best to avoid those who make predictions that do not come true and who have been shown to be sinning continually.
Remarriage for a divorced man is a continuing state of adultery against the first wife. Someone who is not convicted of this sin, may not be someone we want to listen to on a regular basis.
Serial adultery in the form of remarriages is a big concern, obviously there has never been an attitude of repentance about this matter of divorces and remarriages, or Mr. Lindsey would be separating himself from the latest wife to remain single.
Remarriage while a first wife is living remains adultery. The adultery does not end because of a piece of paper by the law of the land. God is the One Who makes the rules for believers, He says that remarriage is adultery, that's it.
Disobedience in a big way to the Word of God without public repentance, is always a clue about a public man or woman, or any man or woman.
Our culture has accepted divorce and remarriage as a normal way of life as though it is different from abortion or other "bigger sins", but in fact it is exactly the same, rebellion against God with stubbornness toward His Word and disrespect toward Him.
Luke 16:17-18 "17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law. 18 Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery (ongoing as long as they live together), and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. "
Divorce and remarriage is violence against the first spouse. Divorce is hatred and remarriage is compounding of the hatred. There cannot be love in someone who will ruin, even destroy the love of another by attempting to sever the relationship that God joined. They will never be able to sever it, but the attempt is the hatred that is demonstrated against a spouse.
Hebrews 13:4
"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous."
Malachi 2:16 "16"For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence," says the LORD of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously."
