Our marching orders as born-again believers are to bring the gospel to the lost and encourage the believers in these last days. Anything else is a distraction. Politics, family, and entertainment are all distractions. We must stay focused or we might lose valuable opportunities right before Christ removes us.
The devil wants us to remain distracted with everything but what He has given us to do in these last days and that is to contend for the faith.
Contending for the faith is defined as standing against anything that comes against the Bible to undermine its principles. When is the last time you heard a "Christian" adamantly proclaim the principles of God's Word among family members or even in churches? Most people are indoctinated to "keep the peace" through compromise.
Most "Christians" today have little knowledge of the Bible and those who have some are resistant to a challenge to look deeper into the principles of God.
Even many educated preachers remain staunch toward the things they were taught by men, seeking the approval of men and the desire to be elevated keeps the preachers stuck in bad doctrine and even foolish thinking, not of God.
Desiring the approval of men is contrary to the Word of God.
Galatians 1:10
"10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Matthew 6:24
"24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."
This passage speaks of serving to gain wealth but it applies to anything or anyone who replaces God to obtain it. It can be money or it can be the approval of men to elevate one's own status.
Pride is always involved when something or someone takes priority over God. All things that distract us from God will ultimately end up causing us to deny His principles and reject His truths.
Mark 7:13 "13 Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters.”"
Many "Christians deny Christ in their day-to-day life practices and in their earthly traditions.
We all must guard against being sucked into the emotions and false traditions of others. It is easy to want to be loved by others through engaging in their practices that do not honor God but are distractions.
Politics, entertainment, traditions of men and much more can and often do diminish our calling in these last day right before Christ comes.
Seek Christ first before entering into something others may want us to become involved in, it may just be the devil disarming us.
