Many Christians do not understand the working of the Holy Spirit in believers. I have been mocked by Christians when I say the Holy Spirit speaks to me. They equate speaking in terms of verbal expressions or visions, but that's not it, we hear the Holy Spirit in spiritual inklings that cannot be explained to people other than those who have experienced it.
I know when the Holy Spirit is speaking and I know when my own thoughts are just me, there is a big difference.
John 16:13 "However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come."
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Remember if someone is speaking down to you or treating you like a child, this is disrespectful, move on to more healthy relationships that value you! This form of mocking is a violation of scripture.
Philippians 2:3 "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than himself."
Condescending is unscriptural, we must treat others with respect, allowing them their own personality. Mocking and demeaning people is not a personality trait it is pride and sin.
