The Lie of Sinless Perfection
There are those who are preaching sinless perfection after becoming born again. This is not Biblical; it causes people to try real hard in their flesh to be good enough.
When Christ saves someone, He begins the work in us. If we obey, we gain in holiness, but if we disobey, we stagnate, and the Holy Spirit goes silent until we obey.
1 Thessalonians 5:18-19 "…18 Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not extinguish the Spirit. 20Do not treat prophecies with contempt,…"
Ephesians 2:9-10 "…9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."
1 John 3:5-7 "…5 But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous."
We know Christians sin because of the following verses.
1 John 2:1 "1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father— Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."
Hebrews 12:5-7 "…5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?"
Revelation 3:19 "Those I love I rebuke and discipline. Therefore, be earnest and repent."
1 John 1:8-10 "…8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us."
God told born-again believers to confess their sins to one another that they might be cleansed of the sin they confess. No one is sinless, but we should be growing, sinning less.
James 5:16 "Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail."
Those who believe they do not sin after salvation are either not born again or they are born again and deceived. They will either fall away because they never had Christ or they will remain spiritual and emotional infants lacking in growth.
Humility is not present in those who cannot see themselves in truth, making up grandiose lies about themselves to feel superior.
Everyone who walks in humility with Christ will not only see their real selves and the need for confession they will also deeply desire to please God by confessing to be cleansed by Him. Cleansing is sanctification done over a lifetime of confessing and learning to walk in holiness.

Who do you follow, Christ or a man?
On another thread discussing and denouncing Calvinism, our brother Larry spoke of the fear that might be in the hearts of those having children under this false system.
Sadly, the way Calvinists justify having children, not knowing if they are one of the chosen, is to add to their belief that anyone born to them will be chosen too.
There is no Biblical basis for such a belief, but because they must comfort themselves that their children are chosen, they make up a lie.
I have been rejected by many Calvinists, mostly because I ask them, "Why do you think you are one of the elect?" They never have an answer for me and respond with dismissiveness, isolating me from their herd to punish me and keep my influence from any of their followers.
The Calvinists I have met are all arrogant and self-assured; the love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, and self-control are absent, even if they would declare they have the fruit, the attitude and covert rudeness demonstrate otherwise.
The fruit of the Spirit is the character qualities of Christ; they are the very essence of those who have Christ living in them. Everyone who has the Holy Spirit in them has this fruit. This fruit is not works; it is a part of our being that no fleshly effort can devise, it is Spiritually inculcated into our hearts at salvation by the Holy Spirit. No one has the fruit because they declare they do.
So often, people think that as long as they declare something about themselves, this makes what they say the truth. This is why I do not listen to "words" except those written by God. We are living in a time when people think all they have to do is "say" something about themselves, and the declaration alone makes it true.
Matthew 7:15-20 You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
Those who are born again can recognize the fruit of the Spirit in another believer and they can recognize when someone claims to be a Christian but do not possess this fruit.
Galatians 5:22-23 "22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
God would never have told us what the fruit looked like if He didn't want us to discern it. He wanted us to discern it so we would not be fooled by falseness and trickery.
God told us what love looks like so that we learn to demonstrate it and so that we can discern false love from authentic love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth."
When we believe someone loves us, we tend to follow that person, but God wants us to follow Him even if others do not love us.
Colossians 3:12-14 "Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity."
Love is the first fruit and the most important one. All the other fruits flow out of this one fruit of LOVE! When love is absent, then so will be all the other fruit.
People can pretend they have love in superficial ways to mislead those they wish to fool, but eventually the pretense will be exposed.
Calvinists cannot have the love of Christ because they follow a man named Calvin, and their doctrine is elitist; they want to be superior and one of the special people. There cannot be a mentality of loving the lost enough to share Christ with them because preaching is not needed if everyone has already been determined to be born for salvation or born for hell without a choice.
To follow Calvin is to negate Christ and disobey His Word!!!
1 Corinthians 3:3-5 "3 for you are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and dissension among you, are you not worldly? Are you not walking in the way of man? 4 For when one of you says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere men? 5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his role."
1 Corinthians 1:12-13 "What I mean is this: Individuals among you are saying, “I follow Paul,' 'I follow Apollos,' 'I follow Cephas,” or 'I follow Christ.” / Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?"
1 Corinthians 4:6 "Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another."
1 Corinthians 1:10 "I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction."
