There are many in our country who are poor. Rather than chastising responsible people who manage their money well, to give to the poor, we ought to be chastising the poor for their entitlement mentality. This country has been very generous. Churches give away free clothing, there are many soup kitchens and even the government takes from the hard working people to give to those who are lazy.
Using every excuse they can come up with to say they are disabled when they could do something to earn their own way these people believe they deserve to be taken care of by others.
Yes, there are some people who need help but many who are receiving it do not need that help. They would just rather sit on their bums and take from those who spent a lifetime of working to take care of themselves..
In our country the "poor" don't need it, most are already sucking off of the government on the money of those who worked hard all their lives. Nearly all the poor people I know are there because they have been irresponsible, using drugs, alcohol, gambling and foolishly spending their resources, not to mention refusing to work or follow rules to keep a job.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you: that if any would not work, neither should he eat."
This is the face of socialism, allowing the lazy to remain so while penalizing the hard workers for their diligence.
Its not God's way but it sounds alright to the unbelieving world.

Going Home Soon
God commanded us to be bold that people would see the importance of the message of the gospel. When we speak of something as though its not very important, we leave the impression that its something not worth pondering.
Many church gatherings today are spreading a gospel according to the world, that is that everything is about comfort and wealth. Leaving Christ appear as one Who is indifferent about sin.
The time is coming soon when believers will be taken out of the world to go home. Those who are not serious about their eternal home, which will either be heaven or hell, will be left in shock that all their good works were nothing more than filthy rags to God.
What we think of ourselves is of no consequence to God. Its what God thinks of us that matters. He knows our fallen and despicable state, but has given us a way out of it. He has provided the way of salvation for us that required nothing other than to trust in Him.
When we trust Christ He begins all the work in us, we can rest in Him. Any part of ourselves that is still working to earn salvatiton must be removed to further make us into His image.
Christ is coming soon, do not be left behind!!!!!
2 Timothy 4:1-7 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
