When a man loves and honors his wife as he should in most cases the woman will follow even if she is not saved, at least in my generation. The problem is that too many husbands think leading means dominating with coercion. I have known many men like this, they are disrespectful and mean to their wives to "force" them to obey. The Bible never teaches a man to force but rather to lead by example.
Ephesians 5:28-30 "28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 30 because we are members of His body. "
1 Peter 3:7
"7 You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered."
If men treated their wives with a great deal of compassion and love the women are often won over by that kind of love. I have only known a few men who were kind like this, most I have known think wives are to be used and treated like children. Of course that's been my experience but I fear it is common.
Treating a woman as though she is lesser because she was made to be the tender sensitive one, by God that is, is to deny God's creation.
Sadly women reacted to the ill treatment by rebelling against God rather than fasting and praying for their husbands. There are some good husbands but most of the world is unsaved and blind to the love of God, therefore they will not understand what "loving your wife as your own body" looks like.
Rejecting the cultural Christianity I grew up with to embrace and enjoy a relationship with Jesus Christ. A place to come and share thoughts about almost anything. Especially things of the Lord. Please no Anonymous posts, I enjoy knowing who is writing to me.

Matthew 7:15-20 "A Tree and Its Fruit"
15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?
17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 So then, you will know them by their fruits."
