Half Truths are Whole Lies

Leaving out part of the truth is a lie of omission to cause the hearer to think something different than what is the truth. We do not have to speak a lie for the story to be a lie. All we have to do is leave out the portion we don't want you to believe to make a story become a lie.

Many people are more comfortable omitting part of the truth than telling an out and out lie. This is why these lies of omission are so diabolical (diablo: devilish) because they lead someone to believe something that is not true by leaving out part of the truth.

In other words, a half-truth is a whole lie!

Ananias led Peter to believe they were bringing their full portion from the sale of the land when they really held back part of it pretending something that was not true. Sadly he was killed by God for this omission and so was his wife when she came in later and did the same thing her husband did.

Acts 5:1-4

Fate of Ananias and Sapphira

5 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,

2 and kept back some of the proceeds for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the proceeds of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.”

Those who lie without conviction over it are always seen by God even if they got away with it with men.

God Never Lies When He Said He would Keep us Forever!

When God said that He would give us the Holy Spirit forever I believe Him, that I will never be lost again.

 
God does not lie to say we cannot earn our salvation and then tell us we need to earn it by our deeds.

 
The problem is that many think it is their work that keeps them saved but God's work that saves, it is irrational. When God saves us because we trust in Him then He will keep us, He is the One Who keeps we are not.

When someone does not have the answers but is vested in appearing superior they will begin to attack the character of their target hoping to evoke an angry reaction.

I am so glad I learned from my many contacts with narcissists that their attacks feel more like a mosquito bite that itches a little rather than a dog bite that festers as an open wound.

They think we are like them but we are not because we have the Holy Spirit living in us Who gives us the power and dignity to see their attacks for what they are, attacks of the devil to harm.

Psalm 27:1-3 "1 Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom shall I dread? 2 When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell. 3 Though an army encamps around me, my heart will not fear; though a war breaks out against me, I will keep my trust.…"

The Lord Jesus Christ lives in those of us who are born again, we have no fear of what others might say about us or do to us. All their efforts to diminish our walk with Christ will fail and God will deal with them we do not have to figure it out or make a point.

Many years ago when I began to ask God for wisdom even if it meant giving up what the rest of the culture believed and even losing their love and support I found myself swimming upstream against modern Christianity.

All family members avoid me and treat me with disdain and even contempt through disrespect. They use excuses that I am a woman and should not speak or write the principles of God. Those who love the Lord don't care who they hear it from they rejoice that it was spoken by anyone.

The appstates elevate and revere those who have degrees or never rattle their cages with the truth, but will not tolerate anything that sounds like a correction or rebuke.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 "…2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction. 3 For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. 4 So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.…"

Being without angry family members is preferable to being accepted by the Christian culture which only wants to enjoy their pleasures and fantasies. God has brought me so many wonderful godly friends through the internet, far more than the pretenders I lost.

The family of God is my family, they have the Spirit of Christ in them far more powerful than physical blood running through the veins of biological family. We are related to the people of God through the blood of Jesus Christ!!!!

Proverbs 18:24 "A person of too many friends comes to ruin, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

Those who are contemptuous toward us for being too "radical" in our Christianity, bringing to bear the scriptures on every subject of conversation are treated as though they are mentally disordered.

God said it would be this way and to count it all joy when we are rejected by those who do not love Him. And, even those who say they are Christians but act as though they don't care what He thinks. We cannot love someone and be indifferent to His thoughts and desires for us.

Matthew 5:11-12

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

May this knowledge of Gods instruction to us encourage us so much that being rejected feels more like a tiny mosquito bite that itches a little, than it does the bite of a dog that deeply wounds and festers. Yes, it affects us but not enough to pay much attention to it.
