Marriage, one man, one woman for life, that's how it goes for believers.
So many believers are not divorcing and remarrying but they are endorsing that others are doing this. They embrace the remarriages by attending the weddings, having wedding showers and even encouraging it when there has been a divorce.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11: "10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife."
Anyone who says one should be able to remarry after a divorce is scripture twisting and in rebellion against God. Anyone who encourages divorce and remarriage through actions of affirmation, are sinning along with those who divorce and remarry.
Proverbs 27:5-7 "…5 Better is open rebuke Than love that is concealed. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. 7 A sated man loathes honey, But to a famished man any bitter thing is sweet.…"
Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Proverbs 1:26-28 "…26 I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, 27 When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. 28"Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me,"
Isaiah 5:3-5 "…3"And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, Judge between Me and My vineyard. 4 "What more was there to do for My vineyard that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected it to produce good grapes did it produce worthless ones? 5 "So now let Me tell you what I am going to do to My vineyard: I will remove its hedge and it will be consumed; I will break down its wall and it will become trampled ground.…"
Amos 3:6 "If a trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble? If a calamity occurs in a city has not the Lord done it?"
Yes, God brings calamity on people when they are stubborn.
When our "feelings" do not match with the mandates of the Bible, then it is the feelings we ignore, not the Bible.
Feelings are like an itch, they come and go and just exist, we pay attention to them but we do not allow them to guide our actions or attitudes.
How many people raise their hands in praise through their suffering? That is the true test of our faith in Christ, that He takes us through, teaches us steadfastness and even grows us in wisdom.
In short, even the suffering is worthy of praise to the Lord, it has great value for the believer.
James 1:2-8 "2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."
When the rebellious hearts cannot fight against the truth of God, as delivered to them through the messengers of God, these same rebellious people will attack the delivery as an accusation against us, rather than address the original discussion.
The attempt on the part of rebellious hearts to bring about shame in us, is merely another tactic of the devil to silence God's truth.
Don't fall for these tactics of the devil, speak boldly and often as led by the Holy Spirit, allowing God to deal with them.
Those who are in rebellion against God will demean, mock and malign the character of those who love righteousness and truth.
There is no need to answer these people, simply walk away and minimize contact with them.
Proverbs 1:22 "22"How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge? "
Proverbs 1:7-8 " 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching;…"
