Discernment Goes a Long Way to Protect

It is very important that believers pray before acting. Pray about everything all the time and make no moves until the Lord gives a clear answer.

The devil can make things look very good and even making them look like it is God doing it.

We need to pray that God reveal anything that might be wrong or dangerous. There are women and men looking on line for partners, they believe everything these people tell them.

Narcissists are people who can look absolutely perfect, so perfect they are too good to be true, no one is that perfect. When someone is the poster child for the perfect spouse, then don't believe it.

If you meet someone like this, test them, challenge them about something, question their beliefs before revealing your own. There will be clues that they are fakers, learn the language of fakers so that you will be discerning.

When we pray God reveals secrets about others that they think they are hiding, simply through the way they express themselves and the words they use.

If a person rages at a mild challenge or chastises you for wanting to know their lifestyle, then they are to be avoided, in fact run as fast as you can.

If you are not willing to do the homework in getting to know someone, and this takes time, then you are open to all kinds of deception and trouble.

In our day we cannot and should not take someone at their word. Words come cheap these days and everyone knows what you want to hear, so they frame things just that way. There is more deception going on all the time than we realize.

Hebrews 4:12 "12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

1 Corinthians 2:14 "14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned."

Speak the things of the Bible to a new friend and watch their reaction to it, do they understand, do they want to hear, do they change the subject, does their face turn red, there are clues that someone doesn't like hearing us talk about the Word of God. They may even laugh at us or call us names such as "Bible Thumper" or "Goody Two-shoes", there are things they say and do that reveal their heart, they cannot help it, it will come out when the Word is spoken or when they are asked to give an account about something.

Philippians 1:10 "10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,"

Hosea 14:9 "9 Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them."

Proverbs 3:21-23 "21 My son, do not lose sight of these—
keep sound wisdom and discretion, 22 and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. 23 Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble."

Not everyone who shows you attention has your welfare in mind. Many people want someone to elevate them, treat them special and fawn all over them, they have no interest in being a a loving and supportive person for you.

Far too many people get married because they want a good spouse, they do not marry to BE a good spouse themselves.
