When a born again believer loves the Lord God with all their heart, sole and mind, they will take attacks from the devil far less seriously.
When Christ is our guide, the One Who loves you more than anyone else could and is available all day and all night every day nothing could disrupt that security and faithfulness.
The day we realize that we should not allow others to dictate our truth or disrupt our walk with Christ we can be free to let go of those who will attempt to derail us.
Often family members will work to deride our decisions, our beliefs and our resolve to follow Christ by gaslighting us into believing we are all wrong about everything.
When you have been raised in a family structure that attempts to cause you to sin through constant demeaning you begin to question your own walk, after all, "could they be right that we have not changed when we became born again?", are our thoughts.
When Christ has changed you into a new creation you know you are different and others who love the Lord will notice it and even express it to you. The narcissist, even one who claims to be Christian will attempt to make you believe you are the same person you were before you were born again. They hate the new you even more than they did the old you.
When a person who says they are Christian holds onto the past refusing to see the present, it is likely they were never born again. Born again believers are excited about the new you, even praising God with you that you can now be truly brothers and sisters in Christ.
When we have been changed by Christ those who remain "religious" and "prideful" will want to derail us from our new path. They hate that we have great joy and a new direction. They hate that they are no longer in control of us. Even when Christ is in control of our heart the narcissist "Christian" will refuse to see it, even hating that they have lost control over us to Christ.
When the devil uses the narcissist to poke at us all the time in order to feel superior, we must make the choice to minimize and even exclude from our lives those who claim to be Christian but love their elevated view of themselves. These people want to be the authority in your life instead of Christ. They want to be the god over us who dictates their own personal standard.
When Christ is our Lord, our Guide and our Teacher, it is going to upset the narcissist. When the narcissist has lost control over us to Christ they will begin monstrous tactics to shipwreck our faith.
More attempts to shipwreck my faith have come from those who claim to be Christian. I notice one things about these people, their discomfort with the hearing of the name of "Christ" and correction when their doctrine is not in line with Scripture.
Every born again believer ought to be able to calmly and with enthusiasm discuss the Word of God without anger. Disagreement around God's principles are upsetting to the "Christian" narcissist. When we see this we may be seeing a professing Christian who does not possess the Holy Spirit. In other words they have a cultural Christianity but not a born again experience.
Those who are born again are not hostile when Christ is mentioned. They listen with interest and evaluate according to God's Word.
The best course of action with the narcissist is to remain your lovable and kind self no matter what they say or do and leave their reactions and antics to God.
Proverbs 26:4-5 "Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Or you will also be like him.
5 Answer a fool as his folly deserves,
That he not be wise in his own eyes."
Or you will also be like him.
5 Answer a fool as his folly deserves,
That he not be wise in his own eyes."
These two verses in Proverbs seem to contradict one another, however they do not. God says not to answer a fool ACCORDING to his folly, but we are to answer him according to God's wisdom or to ignore him. A fool loves to argue, its candy to them. When we refuse to engage with a fool who wants to argue we are answering him according to his folly by saying nothing or by staying to the facts and not engaging with the raging and accusations that come with domination to control.
Proverbs 20:3
"3 Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man,
But any fool will quarrel."
"3 Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man,
But any fool will quarrel."
Proverbs 1:7
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."
The final word is that fools love to fight, they love to dominate and they love causing turmoil, especially in the lives of born again believers. There is no better way for the devil to ruin the faith of the believer than to send a pretender along to put a fly in the ointment.
Ecclessiastes 10:1-2 "1 As dead flies bring a stench to the perfumer’s oil, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. 2 A wise man’s heart inclines to the right, but the heart of a fool to the left."
