Revival: to revive something that was once alive but now weak or dead. Revival in churches are not for the unbeliever they are for the lazy believer who has become lax in their walk.
Transformation: When something that was, is turned into something entirely different from what it was previously. Transformation is for those who are unsaved who trust Christ, at which time He makes them a completely new person from what they were before.
Decimate: does not mean to destroy something, it means to reduce it by one tenth. Meaning 90% was not destroyed.
Destroy: means to ruin or demolish completely.
Fewer: means not as many of the things one can count. "There are fewer apples in the bin" is an example.
Less: means small measurements of things one cannot count. "There is less flour in the bin."
So many uses of the English language today are incorrect as the culture changes so does the meaning of words. As the culture promotes self will and lack of diligence we are seeing the demise of intelligent thinking.
As the culture becomes lazy not only in language but also in morals and excellence in all areas of life we will see the degradation of society on all levels.
One thing I have noticed in our culture today is the angst one encounters when they correct someone in their speech as though they did something rude.
2 Timothy 4:1-3 "1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction. 3 For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.…"
As we walk through these end times we will encounter more and more people who lack basic language skills and sadly are happy remaining ignorant.
Over the years I have corrected the speech of those younger than I and have been ignored, only to hear these same people continue to speak incorrectly in spite of the correction.
O.K. you might say this is picky, but I am convinced that laziness in speech and laziness in learning to do things better can be and often is rebellion against anyone who corrects and against excellence itself.
As a young person I was not offended by correction or instruction, it caused me to change the way I was doing something to doing it better.
Since our culture has been taught to do as they please and that correction is insulting, they remain ignorant and they like it. Its a badge of honor for them to do just as they please even if its wrong.
Its no wonder any correction according to the Bible is seen as a personal attack to those who love their own ways and their own ideas above those of God's meanings!
James 1:5
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
Those who remain stubborn, choosing to believe what they like to believe without challenge will not grow spiritually or emotionally, they remain immature until they repent and begin to listen to God.
Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight."
It is fear that causes rebellious people to defend their right to be wrong. Fear that they will be seen as ignorant drives the stubborn heart to remain foolish. Stubborn hearts would rather be ignorant as long as they can appear wise by being stubborn.
A wise person can admit they don't know it all and change to be a better person. But the foolish person never changes, even proud of how stubborn they can be.
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
Proverbs 14:8
"The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving."
So the answer to all of this is to be a person who loves instruction from God's word and from anyone else who offers correction. We do not have to believe everything others tell us but if we are wise we will take into account the input of others, pray about it and search God's Word for His answers to the challenge.
Those who will not seek God when they are challenged will not grow in wisdom, in fact, if they ignore everyone and God to believe they are all knowing then they will regress in their wisdom as they grow older.
One does not remain stagnant as they age, they are either moving forward or backward but they are for sure always moving in on direction or the other.
