The hardest thing for me to watch is the proliferation among Christians of the belief that things were better "back in the day." They were making baby steps into public indoctrination through the school system.
Evolution began to be taught in the 1930's. Sex education began in the 1960's. Young women were encouraged to have careers through teaching that everyone should go to college. We saw posters and education showing women leaving the home to have their own careers as though homemaking was not a career. The falicy was that one had to go to college to become smart. There are many smart and wise people who never attended college and have done well in life.
Notice if a woman became a nanny for a wealthy family she was considered to have a career. If a woman was a house manager for a wealthy family she was considered to have a career. But if a woman did all these same jobs for her family without a boss or a paycheck she was considered foolish and judged as lazy.
Most women who stay home have very diverse activities that need knowledge and wisdom to carry out. Those who stay home tend to be far more creative than those who learn to do only one job in the marketplace.
Those who mock homemaking or have been intimidated to believe it is a worthless pursuit, do not understand the job and its fulfillment. I have never felt unfulfilled in my pursuits in the home. Just the opposite, I had many projects, volunteer activities and joys working with others in the community. There truly was never a dull moment for me. I suppose that's why the years passed so quickly.
I learned many important lessons, met many diverse people, and do not regret all the things God taught me. This is the life of the homemaker who takes it as seriously as a CEO of any company. She is free to make her own decisions, she has one boss that is Christ and her husband is her partner, encouraging her in all her pursuits on behalf of the family.
God said that a woman is the "keeper of the home", this means that she makes the decisions about food, decorating, clothing for the entire family, activities in it and much more. This job was given to her by God, it was not given to her by her husband even though she takes into account his desires as she does her job, because she loves him and cares what he appreciates.
She is also a support, helper and advisor to her husband in all his pursuits. He is the Spiritual leader if a woman chooses a husband wisely and she enhances that job by her activities.
Proverbs 31:10-31 "An excellent wife, who can find her?
For her worth is far above jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She looks for wool and linen,
And works with her hands in delight.
14 She is like merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
15 And she rises while it is still night
And gives food to her household,
And portions to her attendants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings, she plants a vineyard.
17 She surrounds her waist with strength
And makes her arms strong.
18 She senses that her profit is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
26 She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the activities of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29 “Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates."
Be sure that there are those who will not like our resolve to obey God and will attempt to influence our husbands to come against what we know is right. Get these people out of your lives if you can do it. They will ruin your marriage as well as other relationships.
The husband of a homemaker trusts her judgment, knowing that when he leaves to the market place to earn the household money, he does not have to worry whether or not everything associated with the household will be taken care of properly by his wife.
A wise wife does not go running to her husband for permission to do everything, she has the wisdom to handle things for herself, freeing her husband to make the living.
Also, the woman is a volunteer where God leads, leaving a good testimony in the community that blesses the influence of her husband with others.
When her husband has public dealings she is beside him to support what he is doing.
May the Lord bless those who want to do things God's way. Hallelujah
