21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’"
Imagine getting before God and arguing with Him. Isn't what many people do today who follow the things in the Bible they like and ignore the things they don't like are doing?
They are arguing with God, they are saying things like; "but God you didn't mean it when you said divorce and remarriage is a sin."
"But God you didn't mean it when you said lying and exaggeration were a sin." "But Lord followed the holidays men made for you." "Didn't we add your name to the holidays we liked, to honor you." We attended gatherings you didn't command, but we did it for you." "We ignored the scripture and our brethren when they chastised us because we wanted to keep the peace." "But Lord didn't we forgive everyone even if they were not repentant."
God clearly teaches in His Word that divorce and remarriage is a sin, that lying and exaggeration were sins, that the traditions of men are sins, that we should meet together without the traditions of men, that Christ did not come to bring peace, and that His sword of the Word would cause the rebellious to hate true believers, He told us to obey the scriptures not adding to or taking away from them, and He told us to forgive the way He did through confession and repentance.
There is more of God's word the modern apostate church ignores in His Word than they obey but they think as long as they make an excuse that they are doing if for God they should be seen as obeying Christ.
Man likes to make up their own rules, tack on God at the end of their lies to pretend they are obeying Him, or that they are doing their own thing for Him as they disobey what He taught.
Christ does not want our sacrifices men do to make themselves feel good, He wants obedience to His Word.
God even tells us to avoid those who say they are Christians but refuse to obey Him.
Romans 16:17 says, "I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them".
Those who cause division are the ones who speak against the Word of God pretending to represent Him. They speak lies against His word and claim He said it.
Those who defend the things God hates and claim it is being a Christian are to be avoided. Giving them any attention or credence is endorsing their sin of disobedience. Even our silence to avoid conflict is an implied endorsement of their false doctrines.
Getting along with everyone who claims to be a Christian just for false unity is not from God either. God told us to adhere deeply to the Word of Truth and remove ourselves from those who walk in arrogance speaking false doctrine while punishing those who do not adhere to their erroneous claims.
Hebrews 13:12-13 "12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.…"
1 Thessalonians 5:11
"Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing."
Encouraging one another does not mean creating a false peace by ignoring false doctrine. Encouragement from a believer always leads to the truth of God's Word, this is what creates peace, true peace that comes from speaking the truth to help one another grow in holiness.
Never sacrifice truth for false peace through accepting sin without challenge.
1 Corinthians 12:25-26
"so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another. / If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it."
2 Timothy 4:2
"Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction."
