"You can tell a good person by how many friends they have."
Another silly saying;
"If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything."
These sayings kept people superficial to remain friends with as many people as possible and keeping everyone happy which left us remaining silent when something should be said to correct.
Our culture now acts as though it believes to correct someone or to rebuke them is considered rude.
2 Timothy 4:2 "
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction."
Proverbs 12:1-2 "1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. 2 The good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a man who devises evil.…"
A wise person sees correction as another chance to learn something either about themselves or about others, even about Christ.
