The "don't judge" mantra has been a ploy to cause believers to fear "being judged" as bad for having discernment or for hearing a clear message of warning from the Holy Spirit.
God never taught not to judge, He taught not to judge others if you are doing the same things the others are doing. And, He told us to take the log out of our own eye "first" before judging what someone else is doing.
Another favorite mantra of the world is "only God knows the heart", while this is true, remember that God lives in every born again believer leading us into all truth. We can know a person's heart by the way they live their life.
We were told not to judge who is going to heaven or hell because we don't know if someone will repent in the future.
That is God's business. If we are told to warn people about their sin then there is a clear directive to tell others when they are sinning. We are told that "you shall know them by their fruit" shows us we can know if someone is born again or not.
Matthew 7:1-6
Judging Others
7 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."
Read verses 5 and 6 in this passage carefully. How does one know if they are giving their pearls to swine unless they have judge them as swine, to begin with?
In these verses, we see that God tells us to make sure we are not being hypocritical in our judging. It is only a fool who believers every salesman, every preacher, or everyone else without discernment.
Jeremiah 17:10
“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
Put this verse together with the next one and you will see something important.
1 Corinthians 2:15-16 "15The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. 16“For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ."
If you are never judging anything or anyone according to God's mandates in the Scriptures then you are a fool easily manipulated and deceived by any wind of doctrine. Anyone who says the things you like to hear is able to control you.
Ephesians 4:13-15 "…13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ Himself, who is the head.…"
1 Thessalonians 5:20-22 "…20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt, 21 but test all things. Hold fast to what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.…"
