Depending on others to validate us is a characteristic of narcissism.
Narcissists cannot develop their own character, they have no confidence in their own thoughts and actions. If they did they wouldn't need to be validated by others to do what is right.
In fact, they will do what is wrong to please the culture around them. They will take on the latest idea to fit into the group-think.
I have heard narcissists say often, "Just love them", when asked what they mean they stumble not knowing what to say, they have no answer for the meaning of that phrase.
In order to understand the principles of God we must read entire chapters, books, and the rest of the Bible that supports the topic. One will be led astray when mantras are used outside of study and prayer.
Narcissists often live by meaningless cliches' that bring no clarity to a discussion. They think if they throw out a popular phrase they will be accepted by the clique. Being accepted is more important than knowing the truth or going deeper to find God's truth.
When the "Christian" culture lives by feelings and superficial human mantras they are impossible to reach. They will fight against the truth believing it comes from the Bible because everyone else said it did. They do not pray and search the Bible to see if something is true, they are spiritually and emotionally lazy.
Acts 7:11-12 " 11Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true. 12 As a result, many of them believed, along with quite a few prominent Greek women and men."
When being accepted by the culture, looking good to the culture, and following whatever the culture wants is the goal there will be massive and devastating consequences to those ensnared and enslaved by the group-think.
It takes courage to follow Christ when the culture as a whole hates anyone who steps out of their expected rules.
Psalm 27:14
"Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"
Psalm 31:24
"Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!"
Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
There is great joy, peace, and expectation when we trust Christ fully in all situations, even if we are completely alone without support, we remain strong and resolute. Hallelujah!
