A Servant Must Be Teachable

2 Timothy 2:24 "24 And a servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and forbearing. "
This verse in English leads people to believe that a teacher of the word must be good at teaching. This is not the case. The English in this verse does not do the meaning justice.
The verse actually means: the teacher must be teachable himself. Those who are teachers of the word must not be quarrelsome, pretending to know it all so that others may not correct him.
If a teacher is so arrogant that they expect others to merely believe them without requiring Biblical proof and without any correction are not qualified to be a teacher.
1 Peter 5:2-3 "…2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. "
1 Corinthians 14:29-33
"29 Have two or three prophets (those who expound on the word) speak, and have the others pass judgment. 30 But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, then the first one is to keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy (preach the word) one by one so that all may learn and all may be [a]exhorted; 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33 for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace."
The word prophesy here does not mean telling the future, it is pertaining to speaking forth the word of God.
If there is only a one-man pastor there is likely error, without correction and accountability. Mankind has the tendency to become lazy, neglecting the study of the word for themselves and allow others to tell them what to believe. This is improper and spiritual laziness.
Every born again believer ought to be learning on their own alone with the Holy Spirit, ready to give an answer when a matter is addressed.
John 16:12-14 "
…12 I still have much to tell you, but you cannot yet bear to hear it. 13 However when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you.…"
It is the Holy Spirit Who leads us into all truth, not any man. Men help and others share at times but ultimately it is the Holy Spirit Who teaches us.
If anyone is rushing to the "pastor" or anyone else to find answers before they have prayed and asked God, then they are depending on that person and not on Christ.
When the truth is spoken from the Holy Spirit whatever is said and done will glorify God. Anything done in the flesh falls to the ground without value and is often in error. The flesh cannot speak the things of God, it must be the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 11:2
"The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD."
1 Timothy 4:1
"Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,"
