The devil is very clever, he will entice weak-minded people into following someone because they are so friendly and bring them cookies. After all only good people who say they are Christians bring us cookies.
Where is the discernment, the searching the Bible to vet those who say they are Christians?
The devil will make us feel bad about doing what is right because of the reaction of others toward us. He will make us feel good about doing wrong things because of the encouragement of unsaved people to follow them.
Galatians 4:16-17 "…16 Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? 17 Those people are zealous for you, but not in a good way. Instead, they want to isolate you from us, so that you may be zealous for them."
Those who want to entice you to be like them even when they do not obey Christ, will treat disrespectfully those who do not follow them so that the onlookers will fear losing the validation of the group and likely enemy of God.
Those who are the enemy of God but claim to be Christians will attempt to isolate us from godly people through gossip and slander. They think if they can remove our support they can dominate us.
Those who use this tactic don't understand that when we walk with Christ we have no need for a "group" to validate us. We greatly enjoy those who agree with God but do not need to be validated if faced with isolation. Christ in us is better than an army of supporters.
Colossians 2:9-10 "…9For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form. 10 And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority."
Ephesians 1:22-23
"And God put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church, / which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all."
Philippians 2:9-11
"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, / that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, / and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Those who love Christ and seek Him in all things will not be fooled by "good sounding" unbilibcal phrases or happy smiles, manipulation does not work on us. We are able to discern truth from error through the power of the Holy Spirit when we know His Word.
May all believers test every spirit and cling to what is right in the eyes of God.
