I never know what someone means when they say: "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater."
I think this is often used to encourage people to ignore the bad in something and only speak of the good. The problem with this is that when clean water is tainted with dirty water it is no longer drinkable.
When the gospel has been tainted with some subtle false teaching it leads people to believe the whole message is good.
This is the reason doctrine has become so muddied and blasphemous. There is false teaching about forgiveness without confession that has been floating around since the 70's when Christians began mixing secular psychology with the Bible.
What happened was the secular view became the predominant view causing people to believe no one had to ask those they offended to forgive them anymore. Because there was the false belief that we should forgive without requiring confession of sin, those who harmed someone else felt no need to even be sorrowful over their bad behavior.
Pressure came to bear on the innocent party to forgive when there was no justice in
God said: James 5:16 "16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail."
Relationships cannot be restored and grow to a deeper level when the offender is not sorry they offended. There is trust that is lost and cannot return until the offender is sorry enough to humble themselves over the wrong they did to someone else.
We never should accept the wrong doctrine just because there is some truth in it. Satan always adds a little truth with a lie to confuse those who are undiscerning.
We desire the "PURE milk of the word" not sour milk with impurities in it.
1 Peter 2:2-3 "2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.…"
