Has anyone placed their trust in the food they eat to remain healthy?
The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years eating the perfect food sent directly from God, their shoes and clothing did not wear out and yet they died in the desert.
Why did they die if they had the perfect food from God? They died because all of mankind has been under a curse since the first days of Adam and Eve.
Everything was perfect when God made it, the food the animals, and even the people. When God punished mankind for their rebellion against Him, everything was cursed and everything had a particular lifespan after which everything died.
1 Timothy 4:4-5
For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
Those who place their trust in earthly food will not experience a perfectly illness-free life.
It is my belief that God is the one who blesses each plate of food, no matter where it comes from or how it is grown as long as we thank Him for it and as 1 Timothy says; as long as it is received with thanksgiving" and acknowledged that it is from God.
We try to have the proper combination of nutrients as science has taught us, but it is impossible for mankind to grow perfect food on in this cursed earth. It is however possible that God blesses each plate of food when we are thankful for it.
Matthew 14:19
"Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds."
God even multiplies the food for us, it is not our own hand that can create food, God does that, we plant the seeds and He makes them grow.
God is far more concerned about what we put into our minds and hearts than He is about what we put into our bodies.
John 6:55-59
"For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum."
Modern Christianity spends more time on attempting to grow and eat the perfect food than they do on Spiritual food that God deems far more important.
Modern science has given us knowledge about nutrients, but it is not the nutrients that save our lives, it is God Who blesses each plate of food when there is thanksgiving for it.
1 Corinthians 10:31
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
If we do all to the glory of God with Him in mind continually we will not be obsessing over food, politics, self-esteem, and personal pleasure, but we will be joyful and trusting in Christ with worry.
"Worry is a sinful expression of fear and a severe problem of the heart." Corbin Henderson
Matthew 6:25-34
The Cure for Anxiety
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?
27 And which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span?
28 And why are you worried about clothing? Notice how the lilies of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin thread for cloth,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’
32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
If you find yourself being rejected and mocked because you do not worry as others do, remember what God said, what the people say does not matter one bit.
Proverbs 3:5-6
"5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight."
