Abandonment of the Elderly

I am finding more and more elderly people in my generation who have been rejected by their children and they don't know why.
Might I suggest that the culture of "self-esteem" has been one of the problems and others might be divorce and remarriage as well as public schools that trained our children to look to their teachers as their mentors instead of their parents? After all, the children spend much more time with the teachers in school than they did with us.
Extended family influenced the children more than the parents were able to. The Christian culture didn't "come out from among" those who were not Christians and remained in the influence of extended family who didn't love God.
All these things and the liberal culture of "me-ism" has influenced our children's generation to act contemptuously toward their elders.
As we read the Bible we see that the end times is rapidly becoming more like the 2 Timothy 3 mindset than in any other time in history. All evil is ramping up all over the world.
Having listed some of the ways children were influenced in our day we can see why 2 Timothy 3 is so relevant in our day.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these."
When we read each wicked attitude listed in the passage we notice each one is horridly brutal without compassion and love.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 "4 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,"
The closer we come to God through prayer and obedience to His Word the brighter the light shines on the evil in our world, and the greater our understanding of the end times.
Do not lose heart brothers and sisters, remember we were placed in this time for a reason, that is to warn many before the church is taken out and to encourage those who might be downhearted because of the disrespect they encounter, some every day.
There will be fewer and fewer people who will listen to the gospel message this is to be expected when we live in the days like the days of Noah. This should not discourage us, it just tells us our time on earth is short now.
Isaiah 41:10 "Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Proverbs 3:5-6
"5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
