What does God have to say about gratitude? Knowing that God provides everything, knows all that is happening to us and has a purpose in everything, ought to make us grateful, even when things are tough.
We cannot worship if we are not grateful.
We cannot obey God and bless others, if we are not grateful.
We cannot move forward in our spiritual growth, if we are not grateful.
James 1:17
"17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
Hebrews 12:28
"28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear."
Colossians 3:15
"15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful."
Romans 8:28
"28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Psalm 50:23
"23 Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright
I will show the salvation of God.”
Ephesians 5:20
"20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,"
Matthew 6:21
"21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Hebrews 13:15
"15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name."
Psalm 105:1
"105 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!"
Psalm 107:1-2
"107 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,"
The conclusion of this matter: When we ponder all that God has provided for us, even His shed blood for our salvation, allowing in our lives all the things that will help us become more holy, even the tough stuff, we can do nothing else except express gratefulness.
