I like what I heard just recently from a motivational speaker, it sort of tickled me. Loosely translated with my own way of saying it, is in the concept below.
"Herds are easy to pick off, they go the same direction, stay in the same place and copy one another all day long. "
When we say what everyone else says, go where everyone else goes and do what everyone else does, we are not required to think much. As believers in Christ we ought to be challenging one another, when there is a disagreement we are to go to the Word and prayer and come to an agreement on what God is saying. God wants us to be in solidarity as a family, but He does not want us to walk in lock step, that would deny individual gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
"4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.
7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills."
It is in the ability that we have to think for ourselves, evaluate what we have heard, go where God lead us and be willing to embrace change, that brings meaning into our lives. Yes, we love people and want to be with them, but they cannot dictate the decisions for our life. Every believer needs to learn from every other believer, but each must evaluate according to the word anything that is said.
When we are with people, each one thinking for themselves, we can all bring something that benefits the others. If everyone is thinking exactly the same, then there is not much growth in anyone, there is stagnation, even boredom.
Perhaps old people lose their ability to change and grow because they are invested in remaining in a place of safety. When we are in Christ we are not afraid to move to the next thing that God may have for us. Our safety is in trusting in Him.
Hallelujah!!!!
Now go on to seek Christ and learn of His next adventure for you.
