Yes we have adopted four older children, all of whom rejected us as their parents. They saw us only as another place to live after all the foster homes. They rejected our authority, our love and were ungrateful for our provision. We have heard many testimonies like this from other adoptive parents. The anger that dwells in the older adopted children cannot be resolved with love and provision. Only Christ can resole it in their minds.
This has also applied to remarriages in which the non-bio parent is not accepted.
I have said for years that there is a spiritual connection from a natural child to their natural parent. They cannot love anyone else as a parent. Yes of course there are exceptions to this, but they are just that "exceptions."
John Wesley says this:
"The very best security that a child can sense is the love he sees between his\her real mom & dad. In covenant."
