When Christ Changes Us!

So many Christians want to hang onto the life they had before they decided to become a Christian. This makes me suspect about their salvation experience, if there ever was one in the first place.

Anyone who became born again had to confess their sinfulness, then the Lord send His Holy Spirit to come and live in them. The Holy Spirit changes completely who we are, our character has been changed from the old to the new. The old no longer exists.

All the sin we loved before we now hate. All the righteousness we encountered in others before that made us uncomfortable is now a blessing and joy to us.

If you have not changed at all in your mental and emotional makeup over the years then you could not have been changed by Christ. When Christ makes something new it stays new.

2 Corinthians 5:16-18 "16 So from now on we regard no one according to the flesh. Although we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:…"

When we are dead in our sins we love the sin in which we dwell. When we have been changed by Christ we hate the sin we used to love.

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven things which are also abominations: "haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."

Anyone who refuses to admit they are in sin or justifies it in some way, cannot be born again. The Holy Spirit brings a burden to His children when they sin until they confess to be cleansed.

1 John 1:7-9 "…7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.…"

Those who feel no sense of shame over their sin, while believing their sin is good and justified cannot be born again. This is the stubbornness of the unsaved.

Proverbs 18:2
"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."

Proverbs 29:11
"A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back."

Proverbs 1:7
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."

If you have been skating on an appearance of cultural Christianity for many years it is time to confess that sin and begin to seek Christ to be born again.
