While God has spoken in times past to people through visions and dreams it does not mean that every dream a believer has is from God.
In the end times during the tribulation, the Jews will have dreams and visions. Now in this dispensation, we have two things going on that prevent dreams and visions for believers, one is the lack of faith upon the earth and the other is faith that carries through when we believe the written word from God. When we have the word and believe it we need not see anything with our eyes.
The Bible tells us all we need to know and God has forbidden future telling, which is divination.
Often when someone has a dream their mind is responding to their own desires. Visions can be from the devil too, that the believer would become discouraged when their vision or dream does not happen.
When we walk by faith we have no need for dreams and visions. We trust Christ for each day and believe His Word in the Bible. This is what it is to walk by faith. We have no need to know what will happen tomorrow because we understand that God knows and we trust Him.
Many dreams and visions in our day will be false to deter many people from walking by faith. So many people now place trust and attention on the dreams and visions but not on Christ.
It's sort of like the person who places their trust in prayer, their own spoken word rather than in Christ Who is the Word. Many people say they believe in the "power of prayer" but they don't say they believe in the "power of Christ. "
I think born-again believers need to stop saying "prayer works" or "prayer is powerful." Prayer does not work God does. Prayer is not powerful unless that prayer is through Christ. Only Christ is powerful.
Many people pray and their prayer is not heard because they do not belong to Christ. These people believe their own words have power and if a lot of people think the same things at the same time they can make things happen, this is blasphemy, it places the power in human beings rather than Christ.
Ephesians 6:10
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might."
If I never have a dream or vision from God I am better off because I do not place my trust in dreams and visions but walk every day trusting in Christ without seeing anything except His provision for each day.
John 20:28-29 "…28 Thomas replied, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
2 Peter 1:3
"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,"
Hebrews 4:12
"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
The most powerful thing we can do in the name of Christ Jesus is to believe His Word, speak it and endure whatever comes because of it, therein is our witness. The greatest witness of all is to boldly speak the truth, remain steady in our resolve to obey the Bible and love those around us.
Hallelujah!!!
